Riddell Williams

John Chafee, Caitlin Moughon, Janissa Strabuk and Alajendor Torres have been named principals at Riddell Williams, a Seattle-based law firm. Chafee focuses his practice on corporate transactions, international business and intellectual property law. Moughon's practice is concentrated in labor and employment law. Strabuk practices complex civil litigation. Torres focuses his practice on corporate and securities law.

Speakeasy/GameSpy

Speakeasy Network, a Seattle-based high-speed DSL network, announced the formation of the Speakeasy Gaming Network, a venture created in conjunction with GameSpy Industries. The new endeavor will significantly improve connection speeds, performance and the overall experience for Internet gamers. The Speakeasy Gaming Network provides Speakeasy customers with high-speed access to GameSpy's dedicated gaming servers an its network of more than 35 game-community Web sites.

Action Engine

Kevin Morris has joined Action Engine, a Seattle-based provider of a service that uses Web-enabled wireless and wired devices to instantly arrange the logistics of an event at the touch of a button, as the company’s vice president of marketing. Morris will oversee all aspects of the company’s marketing function, including product branding, public relations, advertising and promotions.

OvertheHedge.net

Redmond-based OvertheHedge.net announced plans to launch a new, live Webcast network for gardeners across North America. This gardening network presents programming with simultaneous viewer feedback. Not only is the technology new, but the network business model on which OvertheHedge.net is structured is also original. Setting itself apart from e-commerce sites, OvertheHedge.net combines three media worlds: Webcast retail advertising on the network, income from its consumer gardening magazine and syndicated radio programs on 20 stations.

Go2Net

Go2Net, an Internet network providing consumer services, business services and enabling services, has hired Rick Thompson as chief financial officer. Thompson, who joins Go2Net after more than 12 years with Microsoft, will play a primary role in Go2Net’s operational, financial and strategic activities, including investments, acquisitions and partnerships, and in the integration of these opportunities into Go2Net’s overall business

Charter Bank

Michele Bucklin and Ben Mannikko join Charter Bank Redmond branch to open May 1. Bucklin joins as a vice president relationship manager. She has 17 years of experience in banking, most recently with Key Bank's commercial banking division. Mannikko joins as a relationship associate. He previously worked for Redmond National Bank.

Laird Norton Trust

Laird Norton Trust, a Seattle-based private investment and trust management company, has hired Jim Kreutner as vice president and senior business development officer. Kreutner is responsible for working with individuals in a variety of technology businesses to help them identify their wealth management needs and achieve their financial goals.

McCann-Erickson

McCann-Erickson, a marketing and advertising company with offices in Seattle, announced several new hires and two promotions. Stacy Loya, soon to graduate from the University of Washington, is an assistant media planner. Kelly Riley worked with Seattle's Cola Advertising before joining McCann-Erickson as an assistant account executive. Jennifer Johnson leaves Seiland to join the company as a print estimator. Steve McCloskey is hired as an information technology technician. David Doran, soon to be graduating from Seattle University joins the company as an account coordinator. Anna Raus was promoted to assistant buyer and Danielle Sandoval was promoted to junior media planner.

Esterline

Esterline, a Bellevue-based aerospace metal finisher, announced that it has finalized an asset purchase agreement of Surftech Finishes, a privately held Kent-based aerospace metal finishing company. The companies will operate as independent subsidiaries in Esterline's Advanced Materials Group. Terms of the transaction were not made available.

City of Seattle

Phillip Fujii has joined the staff of the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, serving as neighborhood development manager for Northwest Seattle. As one of six sector managers that oversee implementation of neighborhood plans, Fujii will work with city departments and neighborhood stewardship committees to identify resources to support the Aurora/Licton, Broadview/Bitter Lake/Haller Lake, Crown Hill/Ballard, Fremont, Green Lake and Greenwood/Phinney plans.

Seattle Public Library

Teri Moore is the new director of corporate and foundation relations for the Seattle Public Library Foundation. Moore is working to foster strong library partnerships with corporations and private public foundations. She brings extensive experience as a consultant and volunteer for nonprofit agencies, handling fund-raising, grant writing and public relations

ATD/Western Peterbilt

James E. Coles, president of Western Peterbilt in Seattle, received the 2000 ATD/Heavy Duty Trucking Dealer of the Year Award, sponsored jointly by Heavy Duty Trucking Magazine and the American Truck Dealers division of the National Automobile Dealers Association.

Coles started out working for Caterpillar. In 1975, after significant exposure and training in the area of dealership operations, he left Caterpillar and took over a Peterbilt dealership in Riverton, Wyo. In 1976, he opened Wyoming Peterbilt in Caspar, Wyo. and in 1986 he purchased Western Peterbilt in Seattle.

Coles was on of six nominees evaluated by a team of judges from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Candidates were selected for excellence in business, industry participation and outstanding civic accomplishment.

Founded in 1970, the ATD is the only national organization representing dealers selling new medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
