Loraca, a business-to-business e-finance services holding company based in Seattle, announced the appointment of Katherine Kiyonaga as executive vice president and chief technology officer. Kiyonaga will be responsible for developing and implementing the technical infrastructure and technology strategies for the company.

DDB

The Seattle office of DDB, an advertising agency, announced six new hires: Jeff Goldscher, account supervisor; Evan Simpson, senior account supervisor; Kristen Schiebel, account executive; Jennifer Ross, planner; Kaycee Holton Porter, junior art director; and Dana Prutzman, assistant account executive.

King County

King County Executive Ron Sims announced a new team will manage the County's financial and payroll system upgrade. The team will be led by David Martinez, who will serve as project manager; Caroline Whalen as executive project coordinator; and John Amos as acting director for the Department of Finance. Amos, who has been deputy director, will serve as acting director while a search for a permanent director takes place. Martinez was national director of Nextlink Communications for broadband product and service development. The new team will begin their duties Monday, May 8.

Advanced Digital Solutions

Advanced Digital Solutions, a Federal Way-based provider of systems administration outsourcing services, announced that Kenda Cook, formerly account manager for Western Electronics, has joined the company's marketing and account development team. Cook will focus on developing the customer base and establishing co-operative marketing partnerships with other data and telecom systems vendors.

Gene Juarez Salons

Gene Juarez Salons has opened a 24,000-square-foot flagship facility in Bellevue that, for the first time, includes a separate men's barber salon and a special room for clients preferring private services following surgery and chemotherapy. The new spa is located in the Galleria on 106th Avenue in Bellevue.

Fishmonger.com

Fishmonger.com, a Seattle-based e-business portal that unites the global seafood industry, has completed its first online seafood auction. The company offers free access to multi-auction online trading, real-time industry information and business-to-business goods and services. In its first transaction, over 12,000 pounds of shrimp from Thailand traded hands — from a major international seafood producer to an East Coast supermarket chain.

Charter Bank

A new Charter Bank loan office opened in Redmond on May 1. The 13,000-square-foot office is located at 16505 Redmond Way and is staffed by employees transferring from Charter's Bellevue branch. Dave Engels, Charter's senior vice president and 28-year veteran of the banking industry, will be heading the new office.

Studio Prima

A new Seattle advertising agency has opened an office in North Capital Hill. Studio Prima combines the talents of designer Chris Harrington and marketing specialist Lindy Spohn. The agency develops logo and corporate identity designs as well as Web sites, CD-ROMs and print advertising. Harrington has more than 12 years experience in traditional and new media design. Spohn has taught art courses at ITT Seattle and has served as marketing director of a major Seattle-based digital media company.
