Apex Learning

Apex Learning, a Bellevue-based provider of accredited full distance learning courses and a wide variety of award-winning classroom and exam review products for teachers, schools and students, has named Keith Oelrich as CEO. Oelrich, former head of SpeedyClick.com, a division of ShopNow.com, has extensive entrepreneurial and Internet experience and takes over the position from Sally Narodick, who is retiring as CEO, but will continue as a consultant to the company.

Onvia.com

Onvia.com, a Seattle-based business-to-business e-marketplace connecting small business buyers and sellers, announced the appointment of Kris Iskandar, as vice president of technology strategy. Iskandar will work closely with Onvia.com's engineering and operations teams on third-party technology and merger and acquisition targets. Prior to Onvia.com, Iskandar was chief technology officer for two divisions of Compaq Computer Corp. professional services organization, overseeing business development and managing internal IT infrastructure, quality of processes and technical resources.

Unity Wireless

Unity Wireless, a Bellevue-based provider of wireless and acoustic technologies to the computing, communications and transportation systems industries, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Unity Wireless Integration Corp. has appointed board members and key executives to handle growth in Asia. Joining in Singapore are Cheng Gan as vice president, Kim Shin Wong as secretary and Boon Peng Lee as principal engineer.

xSides Corp./U S West

xSides Corp. and U S West Dex have signed an agreement that will allow uswestdex.com site visitors to download a customizable toolbar providing immediate access to uswestdex.com Internet Yellow Pages and online marketplace services. As part of the agreement, U S West Dex will license xSides' patented technology, which creates space at the bottom of users' computer screens, allowing U S West Dex to display customized Web applications and content.

Business Wire Northwest

Business Wire's Northwest Bureau, which distributes news releases for businesses and organizations in Seattle, has added Ian McDermott as a client services representative. McDermott will be a member of the account team working with Seattle area businesses and organizations who distribute their news over Business Wire's network.

Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle

Barry M. Goren has been named executive vice president of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle. The group is the central fund-raising organization of the Seattle Jewish community, with a mission to ensure the survival and enhance the quality of Jewish life worldwide as well as locally. Goren has been with the organization since 1985 and for the last five years has been in charge of all the federation's fund-raising activities. He is replacing Michael Novick who held the post for 11 years.

Navigant International

Navigant International, a travel management company based in Denver, announced that Keith Taylor is president of Northwest operations. He was formerly president and COO of Mutual Travel and will now oversee Navigant operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska from the Seattle office. Navigant provides corporate travel management services and has 600 regional offices.

Northwest Fine Woodworking

Northwest Fine Woodworking will open a new gallery in Bellevue. In June, the firm is moving from Kirkland to the pedestrian corridor in Bellevue at 601 108th Ave. N.E., Plaza 100, Bellevue 98004.

TranSenda

TranSenda International, a Redmond-based company which develops electronic forms processing systems, named Edward Borey president and CEO. He will help attract venture capital, find strategic partners and lead the firm in a rapid growth phase to become a worldwide provider of "paperless" technology. Borey has been involved for 28 years in technology company management including stints with Intermec, Paxar and National Semiconductor's Datachecker subsidiary.

Bellevue-based employeesavings.com announced it has Charles Schwab & Co. as a new client. The firm is a provider of Web-based work/life solutions used by companies to attract and retain employees. Other clients include Boeing and Microsoft.

Muir Public Relations

Muir Public Relations of Seattle has been hired by Columbia City through its Business Association to help organize public relations for the community. The firm also has Fremont as a client.
