Cambridge Technology Partners

Cambridge Technology Corp., a global e-integration solutions provider headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., has promoted H. Carvel Moore to president of its North American operations. Moore, based in the company's Bellevue office, will oversee the company's 25 North American locations, including two offices in Bellevue that employ 131 people. He will also continue as president of Bellevue-based Excell Data Corp., a wholly-owned subsidiary that Cambridge Technology Partners acquired in 1998.

Port of Vancouver

The Port of Vancouver announced the hiring of Patricia Boyden as the Port's environmental manager. Boyden's responsibilities include environmental auditing, management and permit administration as well as developing and implementing environmental management policies and programs. In addition, she will manage the design and upgrade of the Port's utility infrastructure and provide technical assistance to ensure future Port development meets all applicable environmental regulations.

Institute for Systems Biology

Dr. Leroy Hood, founder of the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, has been elected to membership in the American Philosophical Society. Benjamin Franklin started the organization over 250 years ago to advance scientific and scholarly inquiry. Since 1900, more than 200 of the society's members have received the Nobel Prize. Hood created the Institute for Systems Biology, a not-for-profit multi-disciplinary research facility, earlier this year.

Clark Nuber

Jennifer Korten, senior manager with Clark Nuber, a Bellevue-based CPA and consulting firm, has recently earned the professional designation of Certified Specialist in Estate Planning. Korten specializes in tax and business aspects of real estate development and operations including tax planning for partnerships, limited liability companies and S corporations.

Bellevue Community College

B. Jean Floten, president of Bellevue Community College, is this year's winner of the Pathfinder Award, given by the Washington Research Council at its 68th Annual Luncheon June 8 in Seattle. The Pathfinder Award honors and recognizes outstanding individuals, working as non-elected public administrators, who have instituted innovative programs that have substantially improved quality of service while reducing costs. Floten has served as the chief executive of Community College District VIII and president of Bellevue Community College since 1989.

Business Wire’s Northwest Bureau, which distributes news releases for businesses and organizations in the Seattle area, has added Robert Richardson and Norman Conley as newsroom editors. As editors, Richardson and Conley will be members of the account team working with Seattle area businesses and organizations that distribute their news through Business Wire's world-wide network of media.

Seattle University

Seattle University's board of trustees has elected three new members. Patti Fersch, an active volunteer in public schools and the United Way, joins Fr. Scott Coble, professor of math and rector of the Jesuit Community at Gonzaga University, and Stuart Rolfe, member of Seattle University's board of regents and president of Wright Hotels, as new members to the board that helps guide the Seattle university in various administrative and financial matters.

Gogerty Stark Marriott

Former associate editor/editorial page at the Seattle Post Intelligencer, Sam Sperry, has joined Seattle-based public relations firm, Gogerty Stark Marriott. Sperry has served as Metro editor for the Post Intelligencer, vice president of the Seattle Mariners and senior press officer to the King County Executive. He also teaches classes on media and politics as an adjunct professor for Seattle University.

TranSenda International

Carol Read has been named director of marketing for TranSenda International, a Redmond-based developer of electronic form processing technology. Read is responsible for the company's domestic and international marketing and will oversee strategic market and product planning including the development of the company's vertical market strategies and programs.

Edelman Public Relations

The Seattle office of Edelman Public Relations Worldwide, a international public relations firm, has hired five new employees. Liz Powell joins as senior account supervisor, Karmen Johnson as account supervisor, Patrick Bannon as senior account executive, and Amanda Alto and Rebecca Holmes as assistant account executives.

Don Willis Furniture

Seattle businessman, Paul Willis, owner of Don Willis Furniture stores, has been elected president of the National Unfinished Furniture Association, headquartered in New Jersey. His installation as president will take place at the National Unfinished Furniture Convention and Trade Show in Las Vegas on June 21, 2000. Willis has served on the board of directors of the association for several years, chairing many of its committees including this year's education committee. He is the second-generation owner of Don Willis Furniture founded by his father, Don Willis, 52 years ago in his garage on Lake City Way in North Seattle.

Lease Crutcher Lewis

Seattle contractor Lease Crutcher Lewis has promoted four employees and hired three more.

Bernie O'Donnell has been promoted to project manager from senior project engineer, Denny Raley has advanced to project manager from project engineer, Keith Slack has moved up to superintendent from assistant superintendent and Mike Levang has been promoted to superintendent of the company's Special Projects Division.

O'Donnell holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Washington. Raley is working on a tenant improvement project at the Northgate North retail complex. Slack holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Boise State University and has over 19 years of industry experience. Levang attended Highline Community College and has industry experience.

New hires include Susan McCray, Tom Goett and Paul Padgett. They all hold the position of project engineer. McCray is working on a project at Sea-Tac Airport. Both Goett and Padgett hold construction management certificates from the University of Washington.

Icon Materials

M.A. Segale has changed its name to Icon Materials Inc. to better reflect the growth of the company, according to president Bruce Cyr. The company is one of the region's leading site development and paving materials producers. It is headquartered in Tukwila and operates facilities in that city and in Auburn.
