Harborview Medical Center

Johnese Spisso has been appointed chief operating officer for Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Spisso has served at Harborview since 1993, including the past three years as associate administrator for patient care services and chief nursing officer. She came to Harborview from the University of California, Davis Medical Center, where she was an assistant director for hospitals and clinics.

Whitman College

The Whitman College board of trustees has named former Seattle mayor Norman Rice to a four-year term as a board member and Portland attorney Robert Ball to a two-year term as chair. Now president and CEO of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, Rice joins the board of trustees after serving as an overseer since 1992. Ball, a senior partner in the Portland law firm Ball Janik, has been a Whitman trustee since 1992. Whitman College is located in Walla Walla.

Pacific Edge Software

Pacific Edge Software, a Kirkland-based supplier of enterprise applications that automate project delivery within and between businesses, announced the launch of Pacific Edge Australia, the company's first international subsidiary. Based in Sydney, Pacific Edge Australia will pursue joint marketing and sales opportunities with Onyx Australia, a strategic business partner.

Publicis Dialog

Publicis Dialog, Seattle, an integrated communications company, announced four new hires in its public relations division: senior account executive Karl Kaluza, assistant account executive Justin Endow, account coordinators Rhett Usry and Lacey Williams and administrative assistant Kristen Fowler.

Washington State Bar Association

The Washington State Bar Association added three members to its board of governors. Ken Davidson of Kirkland, William Hyslop of Spokane and Lucy Isaki of Seattle were elected by association members in their respective districts. Davidson is a principal in the law firm of Davidson, Czeisler, Kilpatric & Zeno. Hyslop is a principal in the Spokane, Coeur d'Alene and Moses Lake firm of Lukins & Annis. Isaki, currently a senior assistant attorney general, is completing a term as president of the King County Bar Association

Northwest Hospital

Northwest Hospital announced the addition of Christain Peterson to the hospital staff as a physician specializing in orthopedics. Peterson's practice is located at The Sports Medicine Clinic in Ballard. His orthopedic sports medicine practice includes an emphasis on arthroscopy and spine care. Northwest Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital located in North Seattle.

Williams Kastner & Gibbs

Williams Kastner & Gibbs, a Seattle-based law firm, announced that Sharwain Smith has joined the firm as library manager. Smith has extensive experience in legal and non-legal reference services including online search capabilities, information management strategies and the administration of diverse multi-media venues.

Mainstar Software in Bellevue has promoted Doug Bryan to sales and marketing vice president. Responsible for the company's domestic and international sales and marketing, Bryan will manage the sales team and oversee production of the company's expanded Web site and marketing materials.

Seattle-Northwest Securities

Seattle-Northwest Securities announced that it has opened a new office in Salt Lake City, Utah. The office will at the outset include six professionals who are former employees of Zions National Bank. Seattle-Northwest is a Seattle-based underwriter of municipal bonds and is a market marker in taxable and tax-exempt fixed income securities.

Astra Society

Oregon women executives can be a part of the growing number of women golfers by participating in the First Annual Astra Society International 18 hole Charity Golf Scramble, “Fore Women”, July 24th at Langdon Farms, Aurora, Ore., presented by Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt in conjunction with the Portland Oregon Sports Authority and the Executive Women’s Golf Association. LPGA Carli Mills and Executive Women’s Golf Association President, Pat Miller will present tips on business golf etiquette during the Awards Luncheon which follows the Scramble. Proceeds will support Astra Society’s programs of education and mentoring to Oregon’s women executives. A portion of the proceeds will go to support Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
