Janet Jocson has been promoted to Webmaster and Wendy Golden joins as technical support representative at Mainstar Software Corp., a Bellevue-based provider of storage and recovery solutions for computer systems. Jocson will maintain the company's Web site. Golden brings more than 25 years of technical support experience to assist Mainstar's customers in product installation and operation.

Marlo DeLange has joined the business group of the law firm of Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell, Malanca, Peterson & Daheim as an associate in the firm's Tacoma office. Steven Sitek has joined the firm's Seattle office. DeLange focuses her practice in securities, corporate, business and transactional law. Sitek focuses on general litigation, construction law and insurance defense.
MarketFitz, an integrated marketing services company with headquarters in Seattle, has acquired McKnight & Co., a Seattle-based public relations and public affairs firm serving a variety of clients since 1984. MarketFitz, with operations in Seattle and Portland, has more than 150 associates and more than 100 clients. Jeanne McKnight, founder and CEO of McKnight & Co. will bring two employees and a number of clients into the MarketFitz organization. McKnight has extensive experience representing regional and international clients, with an emphasis on the marketing of professional services and on food industry issues.
FlightSafety Boeing has appointed Kevin Higman to general manager, Seattle training hub. Higman was previously FSB's managing director, training development. He has been based at the Seattle training hub since 1997. Higman was with The Boeing Co. for seven years serving as its publishing system product manager and flight crew instructor. The Seattle training hub is the company's largest of 20 locations and the first major regional training center in its global training delivery network.
GLY Construction has added five new staff members, including project manager Doug Schumacher and project engineers Jeff Angehrn, Ryan Binning, Craig Wallace and Joe Willis.
Schumacher brings 15 years of project management experience and a background in architectural design. He is an architecture graduate of the Phoenix Institute of Technology, and is managing construction of DeVry Technical Institute’s new educational facility in Federal Way.
Angehrn holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Washington, and has been involved in the engineering and construction industry since 1995. Currently, Angehrn is providing technical support to the Trailside Office Building project in Snoqualmie.
Binning worked as an intern with GLY while completing his last year at the University of Washington, where he earned his bachelor's degree in construction management and is now a full-time team member at the company. He is providing engineering support on Overlake Hospital Medical Center's campus expansion and a tenant improvement project for Children’s Hospital at Overlake.
Wallace holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Central Washington University. He is providing engineering support on the DeVry Technical Institute project.
Willis has worked as a licensed land surveyor in the state on several GLY projects. He has 13 years of experience and is a graduate of Central Washington University. He is now working on the Redmond Ridge site development project, a master-planned community with a 1.2 million square-foot business park.
GLY is in its 33rd year of providing construction services in the greater Seattle area.
Seattle's Approach Management Services has hired Bruce Mahan as a safety and health specialist. Mahan has eight years of construction experience, most recently as a jobsite safety officer. He graduated from the Construction Industry Training Council as a journeyman carpenter and worked in that capacity until he became safety officer. At AMS, he is assisting companies with worker safety issues. AMS is a risk management company.
David Toyer recently joined the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties' Government Affairs department as the Snohomish County director. Toyer represents the interests of homebuilders in Snohomish County by working with government officials, trade groups and others interested in development issues.

Brett Matteson has been named the general manager of The Elliott, a Seattle hotel developed by R.C. Hedreen Co. and opening in the spring of 2001. Matteson is relocating to Seattle from New York City where for the past two years he worked at the 900-room New York Palace Hotel, the largest five-diamond hotel in the United States.
Jeremy Owen has been promoted to director of merchandising with Full House Sports & Entertainment, the business arm of the Seattle SuperSonics and the Seattle Storm. Owen will oversee the local merchandise distribution for the two teams, including the operations of the KeyArena Team Shop. He previously served as merchandise manager. Deloit Wolf Jr. has been appointed senior director of corporate sponsorship accounts for both teams as well as the sponsorship of the Tacoma Dome. Prior to joining Full House, Wolfe was marketing manager for Miller Brewing Co.'s Seattle office.
The Columbia City Ale House is set to open on Oct. 6 at 4914 Rainier Ave. S. The ale house is the third such establishment from local entrepreneurs Jeff Reich and Jeff Eagan. Reich and Eagan also operate the Hilltop Ale House in Queen Anne and the 74th Street Ale House in Greenwood. The kitchen management team for the new ale house consists of the head chef from the 74th Street Ale House, Kathy Christopher, and the Hill Top Ale House, Bob Tate.
Eton Technical Institute, a secondary technical education institute in Everett, announced the move of its campus to a new, state-of-the-art facility adjacent to the Everett Mall. The new location occupies the sixth floor of the of the Everett Mall Office Park Building Three and was designed by Connell Design Group of Mountlake Terrace.
