John Christiansen, of counsel attorney in the Seattle office of Stoel Rives, has been appointed a clinical assistant professor in the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Medicine, in the division of medical informatics and outcomes research. The program is one of the leading research programs on the use of computers and information technology in health care. The use raises new legal and ethical issues involving patient privacy and standards of care.
Robert M. Ward has joined the Seed Intellectual Property Group as head of the litigation practice group. He was a principal at Hill & Simpson, a technology and intellectual property law firm in Chicago.
Thomas Fisher of Des Moines has been hired as business development officer for Wells Fargo's Lending Office in Seattle. He will be in charge of developing and managing national small business lending programs in western Washington. Fisher formerly worked for Deutsche Financial Services as regional sales manager.
NeoInformatics, Seattle-based creator of interactive Web content and technology, announced the appointment of Rodney Eaton to senior vice president and Chief Financial Officer. Eaton was vice president of finance at Resource Group International.

Horton Lantz Marocco, a Seattle-based advertising, design and Web firm, announced the addition of four to its team. Jason Hoppe joins the firm as director of electronic production. Hoppe's responsibilities include managing day-to-day operations of the electronic production group and providing technical and supervisory direction to digital artists. Dawn Goode joins the firm as an electronic production assistant. Julie Sargent is the firm's new office manager. Heather Bruce joins the firm as the receptionist.
The McClatchy Co. named Cheryl Ebright Dell publisher of the Tri-City Herald in Kennewick. Dell, vice president of sales and marketing at The Fresno Bee, has been with McClatchy since 1997. She is replacing Ian Lamont, who retired as publisher of the Tri-City Herald in August for health reasons.
NetCompliance, a Seattle-based provider of Web-based "paperless" compliance solutions and on-line worker training programs, will acquire B-Safe, a Southern California-based distributor of health and safety equipment, in a multi-million dollar deal. The multi-million dollar company, with offices in Santa Ana, Calif., and Las Vegas, sells personal protective, respiratory, hearing and other workplace safety equipment mandated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration OSHA.
Bo Bodrak has joined SecureEye.com, a Seattle-based provider of Internet/intranet-based, integrated building systems management, as head of business development for healthcare facilities. Bodrak has spent the last 17 years at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue in the healthcare security department, most recently holding the position of director of safety and security.
King County Executive Ron Sims announced the second annual King County Exemplary Service Awards for 2000. The King County Mental Health, Chemical Abuse and Dependency Services Division established the awards to recognize efforts on behalf of persons with mental illness and/or chemical dependency. The winners are:
Advocacy: Craig Rennebohm, Mental Health Chaplaincy, providing outreach to homeless persons with severe mental illness and chronic alcohol dependency problems;
Direct Service: Roberto Terrones, Consejo Counseling & Referral Service, working with at-risk Latino youth;
Service Innovation: Teen Link, Crisis Clinic, telephone helpline for teens answered by teens;
Systems Integration: Mentally Ill Offender Community Transition Program, Seattle Mental Health, help offenders with severe mental illness move from prison to the community.
