Publicis, a communications agency, announced that C. Norman Shaffer will head the Seattle office of Optimedia, its media services division, as senior principal/media director. Shaffer’s experience includes serving as global media director on the Nike account while at Wieden & Kennedy in Portland and as executive vice president and director of media services at Jordan McGrath Case & Taylor in New York. He assumes the position following the retirement of Ron Jaco, the agency’s former media director.

Wells Fargo has appointed Robert Sexton as commercial banking manager for Western Washington. Sexton oversees the sales and credit activities of commercial banking offices in Seattle, Tacoma and Bellevue. He joined Wells Fargo in 1993 as a senior relationship manager in the company's San Francisco office.

Matthew Durham, Nile Eatmon, Craig Hale, Clint Hanni, Michael Mangelson, Robert Manicke, Kathryn Milam, Daniel Reising, Penny Surrurier, James Wood and Thomas Wood have been elected principals of Stoel Rives, a Northwest law firm. Kathryn Milam will practice in the firm's Seattle office. Milam joined the firm in 1993 as an associate. She focuses her litigation practice on patent, copyright and trademark infringement, trade secrets, product liability and business torts.

Seattle Housing Authority

Al Levine, Seattle Housing Authority's (SHA) director of development and asset management since May, will become deputy executive director. Levine replaces Doris Koo, outgoing deputy executive director. Levine comes to the post with more than 12 years of planning and development experience at SHA. Kathy Roseth joined SHA as the director of PorchLight, the agency's new housing center located in Ballard.

PAR3 CommunicationsT, a Seattle-based provider of customer relationship management, announced the appointment of Steve Zirkel as director of business development. Zirkel's primary responsibilities include building the indirect sales channels and alliances with system integrators and technology partners. Prior to joining PAR3, Zirkel was global manager of the applications service provider program for Aspect Communications, where he was responsible for creating the hosted applications business

Norris, Beggs & Simpson

Greg Baker has been named as senior finance officer of the Bellevue-based finance division. Baker is a University of Washington graduate and has been involved in commercial real estate finance in the Puget Sound for over 20 years. His background includes originating construction and permanent loans for insurance companies, conduits, banks, and private lenders.

Spieker Properties, Inc.

John Gleason has joined the Seattle management team as project director for the portfolio of industrial properties managed by Spieker. Gleason's 15-year real estate career includes working with several national real estate companies, overseeing the management and leasing activities of industrial parks, commercial office buildings, as well as multi-property portfolios.

Harbor Properties

Richard Lyon and Charlie Laboda have joined the Harbor Properties' development division. Lyon will act as assistant project manager, bringing more than nine years of diverse real estate development experience with him. He previously served as project manager for real estate projects for various companies, including ERA Care, Development Consulting, Morse Brothers, and Heartland Consulting. Laboda will take on the role of project manager, leading the construction of new multi-use projects. Prior to joining Harbor Properties, he was vice president of Dally Homes, Inc. and has been involved in the development and construction fields in the Northwest since 1985.
