Dixon brings 28 years of experience in the marine marketplace to the company. He is also an active ship surveyor, a licensed naval architect and a marine engineer for the state of Washington.

William Dixon, an attorney for Seattle law firm Short Cressman & Burgess, has become a certified sports agent for the National Football League. Dixon is concentrating his practice in the area of commercial litigation and sports and entertainment law. As one of nine NFL agents in the state of Washington, he will offer athletes representation in contract negotiations, endorsements, public relations and marketing. He played football for the University of Arizona and graduated from the University of Washington School of Law.

Metron Systems

Donald Rich has been named president at Metron Systems, a Snoqualmie-based developer of high-performance, non-contact measurement systems for the global dimensional inspection market. Rich joins the company after spending the past seven years at Bothell-based Plexus Corp. in various executive management capacities. Rich's top responsibility will be managing the development of the G2X, the company's new, optical laser-scanning device due for roll-out later this year

Antarcti.ca Systems, a developer of visual network maps, announced that Mickey Friedman has joined the company as vice president, marketing. Based in Seattle, Friedman will lead the marketing team in opening new target markets for the company. Prior to joining the company, he served in senior management positions for FileNET, Chili!Soft, Pinnacle Publishing, Microrim, and Fox Software.

Terabeam Corp.

Terabeam Corp., a Seattle-based provider of high-speed optical telecommunication service, announced that Denver will be the second market to obtain Terabeam's new service. The company officially launched its commercial network and opened for business in Seattle last month. The company provides businesses with broadband connectivity by sending invisible, eye-safe light directly through office windows. Its fiberless optical service will allow Denver-area companies to connect to other offices and to the Internet.

WorldNet Technologies

WorldNet Technologies, an Issaquah-based infrastructure provider, announced the acquisition of Government Computer Sales (GCSI) in a multi-million dollar stock swap deal specifying that GCSI remain intact as a wholly owned subsidiary of WorldNet. GCSI operations are going forward normally without any layoffs or changes in their national business plan. However, WorldNet has announced plans to expand GCSI by adding additional personnel in IT services, consulting and customer service to help administrate and deliver WorldNet contracted services internationally. GCSI President Delores Bergstrom remains in charge of the company’s operations.

Safeco

Safeco appointed long-time company executive Bill Lebo as interim chief operating officer for Safeco Personal Insurance, the company's largest insurance segment. Lebo will continue to serve as executive vice president for the company's property & casualty companies. In this role, Lebo is responsible for the company's field operations nationwide, and for the marketing and claims departments of the property & casualty companies.

Red Lion Hotels

Red Lion Hotels & Inns announced the opening of the company's 36th property and its 11th in Oregon — the 68-room Red Lion Inn & Suites Portland Airport. The property is owned and managed by Sandy Investments. The new hotel is located one mile from the airport and 10 miles from downtown Portland
