Seattle Works

Seattle Works, a not-for-profit volunteer organization that encourages people in their 20s and 30s to get involved in their community, added five new members to its board of directors. They are Shelley Caine, client program manager at Shaw Environmental; Susan Chang, research study coordinator at the University of Washington; Jennifer Draper, program manager/strategic initiatives at Starbucks Corp.; Lisa Danielson, project manager at Gogerty Stark Marriott; and Giao Duong, manager of Accenture.

Sweeney Conrad

Sweeney Conrad, a Bellevue-based certified public accounting firm, hired Michelle Estes and Dustin Jensen to its audit staff.

Benton-Franklin County Superior Court

Carrie Runge, senior Benton County prosecutor, was appointed to a newly created seat on the Benton-Franklin County Superior Court. Runge has been with the prosecutor's office for more than 16 years.

Bastyr University

Bastyr University, a university for natural health sciences based in Kenmore, named Deborah Lantz associate dean of the neuropathic medicine department. Lantz, the former interim dean, is a graduate of Bastyr and has held a variety of positions there.

Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness

Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness, a Seattle-based intellectual property law firm, added five new associates. They are Tineka J. Quinton and Thomas F. Broderick in the biotechnology practice group; Emily C. Peyser in the chemical practice group; and Donna J. Coningsby and Clint J. Feekes in the computer software practice group.

Washington State University Spokane

Michael Hendryx was named director of the Washington Institute for Mental Illness Research and Training, Eastern Branch, at Washington State University Spokane. Hendryx, an associate professor of health policy and administration, and associate professor of psychology, is the former assistant director of WIMIRT.

Columbia Bank

Columbia Bank promoted Toni Quinn from manager of the Allenmore branch to assistant vice president and manager of the 104th and Canyon, and Summit branches in Puyallup. Joe Urvina, former branch manager with U.S. Bank, was named assistant vice president and manager of the 176th and Meridian branch. Columbia Bank is based in Columbia, Maryland.

Safeco

Safeco, a Seattle-based company that sells insurance and investment products, named Tom Hutton to its board of directors. Hutton is the former president and CEO of Risk Management Solutions and is the managing partner at Thompson Hutton, where he provides management and transaction services to private equity investors.

Peak Systems

Peak Systems, a Seattle-based information technology company, opened a satellite office in Albuquerque, N.M. Rick Wangen, director of sports and event productions and senior project manager, will handle client services for the new office. Wangen is one of the founders of Peak Systems.

Taco Del Mar

Bill Wright, a former Subway franchisee, joined Seattle-based Taco Del Mar as master developer for the state of Utah. Wright is currently planning to open several locations in the Salt Lake City area. Bob and Chad Moore of Colliers International will act as the territory's real estate broker.

American Automobile Association

AAA Washington/Inland, based in Bellevue, hired Dave Martin as an insurance agent in its Everett office. Martin has seven years of insurance experience in the Puget Sound area.

Mount Bachelor Village Resort

Mount Bachelor Village Resort, a condominium resort in Bend, Ore., promoted Melissa Veen from concierge to sales assistant. Veen will assist Michelle Marquis, director of sales and marketing.
