Alex Smith was named president and CEO of Kaye-Smith Enterprises in Renton. Smith has a background in radio and film production advertising, and is the son of founder Lester Smith. The company manages data, and processes and distributes documents. Kaye-Smith also has offices in Portland and Livermore, Calif.
Rick Rebman, a foreman for the marine terminals maintenance staff, retired after 30 years with the Port of Everett. He started as a mechanic.
The Washington Defense Trial Lawyers organization named Carin Marney, an associate of Seattle-based Williams, Kastner & Gibbs, to its board of trustees. Marney works on litigation in product liability and will organize continuing education classes for the organization.
Fife-based Regal Logistics is developing a new radio frequency technology. Regal distributes for retailers, and offers public warehousing and transportation services. The new microchip being developed will be able to communicate with a computer in real time, which will allow tracking as a product travels through the supply chain.
Joe Colonna is CEO of new Seattle-based consulting firm Strategic Initiatives in Healthcare. The company will work on non-labor expense control and management for healthcare providers.
Tony George will be senior vice president of partner resources, Starbucks Coffee International. He will finish work with Starbucks Coffee Co. (UK) Limited this summer. George was senior vice president at Burger King International. He also served in management roles at ICI India, an international multi-brand consumer products company.
Seattle-based PhotoWorks, a provider of digital and film photography services, named Tom Kelley vice president and chief marketing officer. As general manager of consumer marketing at RealNetworks in Seattle, Kelley worked on brand marketing strategies and customer acquisition programs for music and video subscriptions.

Sephora Seattle recently opened at 415 Pine St. in Seattle. The European retail beauty products chain has its U.S. headquarters in San Francisco, and offers makeup, fragrance, spa and skincare products. Sephora stores feature special sections with makeup, scents and beauty accessories.
Tom Farmer, a network television journalist who worked at Caribiner International and the Web design firm ZAAZ, and John Inge, a business development head at Teague, have founded a communication firm called Solid State Information Design. The company offers marketing strategy, message development, trend analysis and creative services.
Journalist Lily Eng joined the media relations firm Pacific Public Affairs. Eng, who ran public relations firm Abuzz Communications and worked with The Seattle Times and the Los Angeles Times, will lead media relations in the Seattle office. Pacific also has an office in Olympia.
OnSiteDocs, a Seattle-based provider of on-site medical care, secured $500,000 to develop the company's Puget Sound operations and expand into California this summer. OnSiteDocs provides coverage to 6,000 employees in Puget Sound. Tom Snyder was named vice president of business development and Tom Pierson is vice president of sales and marketing. Snyder is responsible for development and expansion into California. Pierson works on mergers and acquisitions.
The University of Washington Business School received $2 million from the Paccar Foundation to help construct a new building complex. The school has raised $25 million from private donors since 2002. The university has committed $23 million toward the $105 million project. Charles Pigott, former chairman, president and chief executive officer of Bellevue-based Paccar, holds the Edward V. Fritzky Endowed Visiting Chair in Leadership. Mark Pigott is chairman and chief executive officer of Paccar, which designs and manufactures trucks.
