Kent-based PowerTech Group hired Roger Shanafelt as vice president of sales and business development. Shanafelt has 20 years experience and worked with DocuSign. The PowerTech Group is an automated computer security solutions company.
The Downtown Seattle Association picked new officers for its board of trustees. John Hanley Jr., a shareholder with Heller Ehrman, is chair. Patrick Gordon, a principal at Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Architects, is vice chair. Jane Nelson, an attorney at Lane Powell, is secretary. Dean Arnold of Washington Mutual and Dr. James Hendricks, president of the Children's Hospital Research Institute, are new board members.
Mercer Island-based GMI, a global market intelligence solutions provider, hired Joseph Baldini as vice president of information technology. Baldini has 15 years experience and was vice president of engineering at Muze.
Seattle-based Rainier Investment Management, an employee-owned investment firm, hired Brian M. Bader as director of subadvisory sales and client service. Bader was with U.S. Trust, Financial Institutions Group.

Seattle Goodwill hired Catherine McConnell as vice president of communications and development. McConnell was manager of development, outreach and participant relations at the University of Washington. Seattle Goodwill is a nonprofit that provides services for low-income and disadvantaged people.
HaloSource of Bothell, an antimicrobial and clean technology solutions company, hired Stephen Himley as engineering project manager of water applications and Steve Carver as mechanical and plastics designer. They will focus on designing HaloPure water purification cartridges and devices, which will be used in global water purification companies' products.
Seattle-based Pacific Biometrics hired Richard J. Gordon as vice president of business development and sales and marketing. Gordon was with Molecular Devices in Sunnyvale, Calif. Pacific Biometrics is a provider of specialized central laboratory and contract research services.
Seattle-based Silver Creek Capital Management hired Stephen Prince as managing director. Prince is a founding partner of Pivot Capital Advisors, a long/short equity hedge fund, and will be based in the New York office. Silver Creek is a fund of hedge funds management firm with offices in Seattle and New York.
