Seattle-based Global Diving & Salvage hired Ryan Smith as general manager for the Gulf Coast regional office in Houston. Smith was vice president of shipyard representation at L&R Midland and has 12 years of maritime industry experience. Global is a diving and marine services company specializing in deep diving to 1,000 feet.
The Auction of Washington Wines raised more than $2.1 million for uncompensated care at Seattle Children's Hospital and Washington State University's Viticulture & Enology Program. The 25th anniversary honoree is Chateau Ste. Michelle, whose support of the Auction of Washington Wines event began in 1988. The auction helps the wine industry provide funds for children across the Northwest.
Bellevue-based Symetra hired Craig Raymond as senior vice president and chief strategy officer. Raymond served as chief risk officer and chief actuary at John Hancock Financial. Symetra is a financial services company providing employee benefits, annuities and life insurance.

Everett-based Electronic Business Machines hired Brian Landgren as partner and president. Landgren has 25 years of experience in the office products industry and was president for the U.S. Global Imaging Systems. Electronic Business Machines provides technology and software in the Seattle/Everett area.
Spokane-based Healthcare Resource Group hired Judy Griffith as director of business development in the Midwest. Griffith served as national director of business development for Revenue Cycle Professionals. She is past president of the Colorado Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Healthcare Resource Group focuses on the revenue cycle of health care for hospitals throughout the United States.
Portland-based Garvey Schubert Barer hired tax attorney Jonathan Cavanagh as an associate in the tax and benefits group. Barer most recently practiced with Thornton Byron. The business law firm focuses on the Pacific Northwest.

Seattle-based Griffin, Hill & Associates has moved to a new location at 821 Hiawatha Place S. in Seattle, hired Arianna Griffin as project coordinator, and promoted Kiyana Daba to project coordinator and Cherrise Gratton to office engineer. Griffin, Hill is a consulting firm specializing in program, project and construction management for transportation, water and facilities projects in the Puget Sound region.
University Book Store has opened an Essential Baking Co. cafe in the Bellevue store at 990 102nd Ave. N.E., serving breakfast and lunch, baked goods, coffee, and beer and wine.
Peter Goldmark, commissioner of public lands has named Kyle Blum deputy supervisor for State Uplands and Aaron Everett deputy supervisor for Forest Practices and Federal Relations. Blum was special assistant to the commissioner. Everett will continue to serve as Washington state forester, a position he has held since 2010. DNR manages more than 5 million acres of state-owned lands.
