Marty Glass (right) of Mortenson Construction donated his labor to lay a new foundation for the historic South Cle Elum Depot. He is joined by his father, Jim.

Think of it as the little railroad depot that could. Shuttered for more than two decades, the South Cle Elum Depot was a link in a vast railroad system that spurred development of the West. Volunteers are now working with the state to rehabilitate the 1909 structure that once served as a rest stop for railroad crews along the Milwaukee Road.
