Construction association starts new safety program

  • 'Safety Alliance' program is voluntary for ABC of Western Washington members.

    A tethered Nuprecon worker, outfitted in an array safety equipment, cuts through the steel roof deck of the former Seattle Opera House building. The contractor, a member AGC of Washington’s safety program, used a safety team to plan the often-dangerous demolition work. Another organization, ABC of Western Washington, updated its safety program in June.

    Lewis Hine's 1930s photos documenting the construction of the Empire State Building are among the Depression era's best known -- and it's easy to see why.
