Heery International

Heery International has made several promotions in its Seattle office. Jimmy Jones, Shawn K. O'Sullivan, Debi E. Smith and Mitchell J. Stein have all been promoted to the position of associate. Heery International is a full-service design, engineering and construction management firm with over 1,100 employees in 30 offices worldwide. The Seattle office is home to 75 construction managers, move managers, designers and planners.

WGA

The Washington Glass Association has elected its new officers and board of directors for 2001. The officers include: Bonnie Fay of Northwestern Industries, president; Mike Ball of the Glaziers & Glassworkers Local Union No. 188, vice president; Ed Howell of Hartung Glass Industries, secretary; Greg Barnhart of Pacific Glass & Door, treasurer; and Jerry Larson of Larson's Glass, past president. The board of directors include: Mark Casper of DeaMor Associates; Bill George of General Storefronts; Steve Klein of Morse Industries; Chris Rogstad of Window Tech; and Gary Towndrow of RGA Architectural Sales. Maryanne Howell continues as the association's executive director.

SeaCon

SeaCon LLC of Issaquah has won a national safety award from the Associated Builders and Contractors. The local contractor and developer won a "Merit Award" in the "50,000-100,000 Work Hours" category. It will be presented March 9, during the association's national convention in San Antonio

The Seattle branch of Performance Abatement Services (PAS) and Performance Contracting Inc. (PCI) announced that Paul Hanway has rejoined the specialty contracting firm as manager of special projects. Hanway has been in specialty construction services in the Northwest for the past 13 years, most recently as division manager for abatement activities at Nuprecon and prior to that with PAS for more than seven years. PAS/PCI is expanding its services to include not only asbestos abatement but mold remediation, fire stopping installation, expansion joint installation and other specialty services. PCI provides thermal insulation services for the marine, commercial and industrial customer.

Waco

Cleveland-based Waco Scaffolding & Equipment has opened a new branch office in Seattle, its first in the Northwestern U.S. Waco is a 57-year-old national supplier of scaffolding, shoring, and contractor supplies and equipment. The new branch is headed up by Steve Powell, a 27-year industry veteran. It will offer design, engineering, rental, sales and erection services to both the industrial and commercial markets. Sheet metal JATC

George J. King Jr. has been named safety director for the Western Washington Sheet Metal Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, where he will provide safety and health-related training and consultation across the state for union sheet metal apprentices, journeymen and contractors. The position was created with grant monies jointly sought by and awarded to the committee, as well as the Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 66 and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association. King has over 10 years of experience as a journeyman boilermaker, plus over 12 years of construction safety experience with the WISHA program of the state Department of Labor and Industries.

HCI

HCI Steel Building Systems of Arlington has appointed Napoleon Ebro as engineer/checker for its West Coast operations. Ebro has relocated from a 12-year assignment in Saudi Arabia and has 20 years of experience in both pre-engineered steel buildings and structural steel.
