Mandi Kime of the Associated General Contractors of Washington and Kabri Lehrman-Schmid of Hensel Phelps are finalists for Outstanding Women in Construction 2019 awards. The program by Construction Business Owner magazine honors female professionals advancing the construction industry. Kime is director of safety at AGC of Washington and Lehrman-Schmid is a Seattle-area project superintendent for Hensel Phelps.
The California Preservation Foundation gave Western Specialty Contractors a 2019 Preservation Design Award for Technology and Craftsmanship for the firm's role in conserving the Saban Building in Los Angeles. Western Specialty's Los Angeles and Seattle offices worked on the 1939 building, installing new limestone and granite on a portion of the facade, making limestone Dutchman repairs, applying waterproofing, repairing window frames, patching and cleaning stone, installing granite Dutchman repairs and waterproofing parts of the facade. When the building opens next year, it will house the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Western Specialty Contractors is based in St. Louis.

Seth J. Thompson joined The Walsh Group in Seattle as an assistant project manager. Thompson comes from Skanska USA Civil and has been in the construction industry for about six years, as a project engineer and cost engineer. At Walsh, he is working on the Hilltop Tacoma Link light rail extension.
In Olympia, Forma Construction Co. promoted Brian Rich to director of preconstruction and principal in the leadership group. Rich started in the company's mail room 20 years ago and has been an estimator for a number of those years. Forma says it's been in a period of strong growth, with revenues doubling over the past few years.
