Spady

General contractor Hensel Phelps relocated Nick Spady from Southern California to become operations manager for the Pacific Northwest region; and promoted Dustin Jewett to project superintendent. Originally from Portland, Spady returns to the Pacific Northwest to oversee design-build transportation, aviation, higher education and health care projects. His 25-year career brings significant health care experience, including the $574 million San Diego Medical Center and parking structure, and the $281 million University of California Irvine Medical Center replacement hospital. Jewett joined Hensel Phelps in 2018, working on the company's most significant projects at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Hensel Phelps says Jewett is an advocate for safety and quality-focused jobsite culture.

ABC of Western Washington

Three firms have become new members of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. They include Renovate Design|Build, which provides residential remodels in the greater Seattle area; Arlington Electric, an electrical contractor that works on design-build, solar, energy storage and generator install projects; and Pacific Construction Supply of Woodinville, a supplier, wholesaler and merchant of construction products and building materials, as well as a broker of durable and non-durable goods and specialty goods.

Swinerton

Vovakes

General contractor Swinerton named Nick Vovakes as vice president and division manager of its Seattle office. Vovakes has over 20 years of construction industry experience, most recently as operations manager at Swinerton, where he has worked since 2011. The company says Vovakes has been instrumental in increasing its health care footprint and providing leadership to expand the Seattle office's target markets. The Seattle office is expanding its mass timber work, along with health care and life sciences projects. It also focuses on self-performed work. Vovakes' predecessor, Dave Worley, will retire in October after 21 years with the company. Swinerton is headquartered in Concord, California, with Pacific Northwest regional offices in Seattle, Spokane, Portland and Boise.

Edo

Moeckel Bolduc

Emilie Moeckel Bolduc is the new chief commercial officer at Edo, a data-driven energy management firm helping buildings decarbonize. Bolduc now leads all sales and marketing activities for Edo, leaning on her expertise in energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainability. She recently was vice president of distributed energy resources for New York Power Authority, and previously held sales and client management roles at Ecova. Edo was formed as a partnership between two utility and built environment leaders: Spokane-based Avista and Seattle-based McKinstry.

City of Tacoma

The Tacoma City Council is seeking applicants to fill 12 positions on the Equity in Contracting Advisory Committee. This will include one community member from each of the five council districts; six contractor representatives; and one representative from the Tacoma Public Utilities service area. The contractor representatives will be from minority business enterprise, women business enterprise, small business enterprise, disadvantaged business enterprise, large prime, and union signatory firms. The committee is responsible for monitoring compliance with the city's municipal code, promoting awareness of the EIC program, and providing advice to the EIC program manager.
