The state Route 285 Columbia River Bridge in Wenatchee was rededicated last week in honor of 12th District Senator George Sellar.
|
The span is now called the Senator George Sellar Bridge. It was officially re-named March 15 by the state Transportation Commission while Sellar was near death, suffering from cancer and pneumonia.
The official dedication, including a ribbon cutting and the unveiling of a brass plaque that will be mounted on a concrete bridge approach, was delayed until Sellar’s recovery would allow his participation.
Pictured, Sellar and his wife Alma thank a crowd of friends and officials who gathered at Locomotive Park on the west end of the bridge.
