Liability can continue after warranty expires

    In some states, by statute, contractors must provide certain warranties covering all work. In Washington, for anything other than new construction, there is no such requirement. But the myth persists nevertheless. Many contractors think there is a mandatory one-year warranty covering their work. This is simply incorrect.

    So does that mean that contractors should not offer warranties? I have found that, for several reasons, it is good practice to offer a warranty:
