Kim

Justin Kim, P.E. has been named a project executive at UMC. Kim joins the Business Development team focused on growing client relationships, supporting strategic planning, and helping ensure successful project delivery.

“Justin brings a unique combination of engineering expertise, project leadership, and strategic thinking that makes him an incredible addition to our team,” says Audie Wallace, director of Development.

Kim earned his Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Washington before beginning his career as an MEP project engineer intern. After graduation, he transitioned into structural engineering for mechanical systems, earning his Professional Engineer (PE) license, before returning to construction with a focus on healthcare and life sciences projects.

Throughout his career, Kim has contributed to a variety of complex projects, including Kaiser Permanente's Everett Ambulatory Surgery Center, St. Michael Medical Center's Phase 2 Expansion, the University of Washington Life Sciences Building, and numerous industrial and specialty projects.

Originating in 1920 to serve the Pacific Northwest as a mechanical contractor, UMC has added a range of comprehensive, integrated services in facility performance and maintenance, energy and environment, building automation, and manufacturing.

Absher Construction

On Aug. 26, Absher Construction Company will formally announce its participation in the U.S. Army Partnership for Your Success (PaYS) program.

PaYS provides an opportunity for soldiers to serve their country while preparing for their future by partnering with a cross-section of corporations, companies, and public sector agencies. The PaYS partners guarantee soldiers an interview and possible employment after their service in the Army. The program is part of the Army's effort to partner with America's business community and increase soldiers' success.

Skanska, a leading global construction and development firm, has promoted Tom Leptich to vice president of operations, and Albert Martin to vice president/account manager for its Skanska USA Building operations across the Puget Sound region and the Inland Northwest. Each has spent more than two decades with the company and cultivated a reputation based on leadership, integrity and delivering outstanding results.

Leptich will oversee project execution and field operations across Washington, partnering with account managers to support projects, people and customers.

Since joining Skanska in 2000, Leptich has demonstrated a strong commitment to operational excellence, developing people, and delivering successful project outcomes. Over his 26-year career with Skanska, he has built extensive experience leading teams across a diverse portfolio of projects, including commercial office, healthcare, hospitality, higher education, K-12, life sciences, industrial and multifamily markets.

Martin will continue his focus on building Skanska's K-12 market, as well as strengthening and expanding client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring the company continues to deliver value to clients.

Exxel Pacific announced the promotion of Mark Gulin to project director. Since joining Exxel Pacific in 2019 as a senior project manager, Gulin has provided leadership, dedication, and technical expertise across a wide range of projects.

During his tenure, Gulin has led numerous projects to successful completion, while fostering a collaborative team environment, encouraging innovation and effective problem-solving.

His focus will be on building and maintaining positive client relationships, expanding the project portfolio, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Compass Construction

Doug Moczulewski has joined Compass as chief financial officer. Moczulewski is a licensed CPA with more than 30 years of executive leadership experience, having served as CEO, CFO, COO, and board member across public and privately held organizations. His background spans the construction, consulting, leasing, and software development industries, with extensive experience in financial reporting, planning and analytics, business strategy, operations, taxation, and regulatory compliance. Moczulewski holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from Seattle University's Albers School of Business & Economics.

Taylor Correllus has joined Compass as payroll specialist. Correllus brings more than five years of accounting experience ranging from payroll processing, certified payroll for prevailing wage projects, benefits administration, and HR support.

Brian Boneau has joined Compass as field engineer on the Quarterra project in Seattle's University Village area. Boneau brings more than ten years of experience in operations, including coordinating field projects, leading teams, managing client relationships, and overseeing project logistics. He studied Business Administration at the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Additionally, Compass' Steven Hall has been promoted to senior project manager. Hall joined Compass as a project manager in July 2025 and is currently part of the team delivering the Quarterra project in Seattle's University Village area. He brings more than 15 years of construction experience managing large-scale commercial and multifamily projects from preconstruction through closeout. Hall earned his B.S. in Construction Management from the University of Washington.

Tiffany Anderson has been promoted to field superintendent. Anderson joined Compass as a field engineer in April 2018 and was promoted to assistant superintendent in October 2019 while working on the Redmond Town Center project. She is currently part of the team on the Simon Northgate project. Anderson brings a strong background in project coordination, communication, and process improvement and holds an M.P.A. from Seattle University and a B.A. in English from the University of Washington.

GLY Construction, a locally owned general contracting firm, has named Cesar Torres as its new chief financial officer and hired Nik Anderson, P.E. as MEP project executive.

Torres brings more than 26 years of construction finance experience, most recently serving as finance business partner at Mortenson. In his new role, he will help guide GLY's financial strategy, operations and growth. His expertise spans work-in-progress reporting, percentage-of-completion accounting, capital investments and strategic financial planning.

“Cesar's combination of technical expertise and people-first leadership is exactly what GLY needs as we continue to grow,” said Tyler Tonkin, president and CEO of GLY. “He doesn't just understand numbers and processes, he understands people.”

Anderson brings more than 15 years of experience leading engineering, construction and capital project delivery across advanced manufacturing, industrial, energy and technology sectors. He will support GLY's Advanced Technology market and industrial, alternative energy, and mission critical projects, strengthening the firm's team of MEP specialists.

Torres holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Central Washington University and serves as vice president and DEI champion for the Puget Sound Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association. Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from Pacific Lutheran University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Washington and California.
