EHS-International

Brian Hunt is the new regional manager of EHS-International Inc. Hunt has 15 years experience in providing engineering, health and safety services to the design and construction industry. In his new position, he will focus on business development for EHS-Companies, which consists of the parent company EHS-Alaska in Eagle River, Alaska, and EHS-International in Bellevue.

Cochran Inc.

Curt Dickerson has joined Cochran Inc. as a senior project manager for the company's Large Construction Division. Dickerson has over 15 years of electrical construction experience.

Patton Boggs

Robert G. Taylor, an attorney with Patton Boggs LLP's Seattle office, has been elected to the board of governors of the American College of Construction Lawyers. He will serve a three-year term. Patton Boggs is based in Washington, D.C.

General/Kiewit

The joint venture of General Construction Company of Seattle and Kiewit Construction of Omaha, Neb., has won a 1997 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering award from the Associated General Contractors of America. The team received the award for its Port of Los Angeles Berth 302 to 305 Container Terminal project.

MUTCD workshop

The Transportation Partnership in Engineering Education Development at the University of Washington's College of Engineering is offering a workshop on the Federal Highway Administration Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The workshop is being offered at two locations: April 21-23 in Lacey and June 2-4 in Seattle. RTA symposium

The Construction Industry Training Council of Washington is holding a May 5 construction symposium in Bellevue focusing on the RTA. Attendees will receive insight on when and how to plan for the upcoming building boom from RTA. The event will be held 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Bellevue Club. Cost is $30, including lunch. Permit process class

A class on how to apply for building permits will be held April 28 by the King County Department of Development and Environmental Services. The class will focus on how to apply for permits to construct single-family homes and other small projects in unincorporated King County and will be held 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the DDES Building, 3600 136th Place S.E., Bellevue. Lien seminar

The Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors is holding an April 30 seminar on construction liens, claim and retainage from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Shilo Inn in Spokane, 923 E. Third Ave. The seminar will cover both public and private works in Washington and Idaho. Cost is $50 for AGC members and $75 for others. Health, safety seminar

The Association of Washington Business is offering an April 17 seminar at the SeaTac Marriott Hotel on workplace health and safety. Topics to be covered include a legislative/regulatory update, WISHA first aid rules, developing a safe workplace culture, indoor air quality and regulatory compliance breakout sessions.
