Jones & Roberts

Thomas Stewart has joined the management staff at Jones & Roberts Co. Stewart has over 22 years of industry experience and holds a building construction degree from the University of Washington. In his role as vice president, Stewart will be responsible for all estimating and market development activities of the Lacey-based general contractor.

LCL

Lease Crutcher Lewis has added two members to its estimating department. Mark King is the company's new CAD (computer aided drafting) administrator and Jeff Spencer is an estimator. King supports LCL's design and technical details coordination in the preconstruction and construction phases of projects. Spencer is working on several projects in the preconstruction phases.

Tech-Fast

Tacoma-based Tech-Fast Metal Systems Inc. has named Mike Hayes as Northwest regional sales representative, Jim Donovan as vice president and general manager, and Jeff Martin as engineering services manager. Tech-Fast designs, engineers and supplies building materials and constructs self-storage buildings for developers.

MBE/WBE awards

King County recently held its 10th annual "Celebrate Success" event to honor outstanding minority-and women-owned business enterprises. Awards were given in four categories. The architecture and engineering award went to Garry Struthers Inc. Construction awards went to: E.M. Castillo, Leajak Construction Inc., Magnolia Contractors Inc., Nisei Construction Co. Inc. and Seattle Based Inc. Consultant awards were given to Community Connection and Triangle Associates. Awards in the purchased goods and services category went to: Master Computer Inc., Perry Ko's South China Restaurant and Road Warriors. A special recognition was given to Linda E. Burgess Enterprises.

WSU

The School of Construction Management at Washington State University has recognized three students with its Outstanding Student awards. They include: Paula Johnson, outstanding fifth-year senior; Michael T. Benton, outstanding fourth-year senior; and Mike Franken outstanding third-year junior.

Unimark

Charles A. Clegern has been named president of Unimark Construction Co. Clegern will oversee the operations and management of the company, with an emphasis on growing its tenant improvement and special projects division in the Puget Sound region. He has over 20 years of industry experience and holds a degree in construction management from the University of Washington.

LCL

Lease Crutcher Lewis has added several new staff members. Philomena Kedziorski is the new executive assistant for the company's senior management. Renee Fairweather and Valerie Hart have been added to the Microsoft Troon office project as operations assistants. Gail LaForest-Mall is the new operations assistant at the Expeditors International project. Larry Novik has been hired as the operations assistant at the Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center project, Julie McClure is the operations assistant at the Pacific Place retail center project, and Mark Moffet has been added as the operations assistant at the King Street Center project.

Snyder Roofing

Harold "Butch" Johnston is the new president of Snyder Roofing. Johnston began his career at Snyder in 1962 as a journeyman roofer and worked his way up to his new role. His new duties include overseeing general operations at the company's Portland headquarters and its Seattle branch office.

Crownover

Derrick Miniken has joined Crownover Construction Co. as a project engineer, responsible for tenant improvement projects. Miniken holds a construction management degree from Central Washington University.

ABC awards

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington has announced the recipients of its 1997 Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) awards. The awards are given in recognition of a firm's achievement and ongoing efforts in the development of a quality safety program. Winners of the Gold Award are: Advanced Fire Protection Inc., Advanced Interiors Inc., BFC Frontier Inc., Calderwood Construction Inc., Cornell Plumbing & Heating Inc., D&S Electric Inc., Donovan Brothers Inc., JE Cumming Corp., Levitator Inc., Lugo Construction, McBride Construction, McMullen Electric Inc., Miller Electric Inc., Mosbrucker Excavating Inc., Pivetta Bros. Construction Inc., Puget Sound Mechanical Inc., QPM Inc., R. C. Dozens of other members received the Silver and Bronze awards.
