Bush, Cotton & Scott

Michael Murphy, Dale Ahrens and Jim Doyle have joined Bush, Cotton & Scott as construction surety and insurance specialists. Each has substantial construction experience, having held similar positions at Willis of Seattle and Michael Murphy and Associates.

Rushforth Construction

Tacoma Rotary 8 has awarded Rushforth Construction its "Employer of the Year Award" for companies with over 100 employees. Rushforth was selected for its company goals, values and principles, performance and accomplishments, uniqueness, employee benefit programs, facilities and work environment, cultural diversity and community involvement.

DPR Construction

DPR Construction has been recognized as one of the "100 Best Places to Work in IT" by Computerworld magazine. DPR ranked 76th on the list and was the only construction company on it. The rankings were based on a 46-question survey that included benefits, training and development, average salary increases, percentage of staff promoted, turnover rates and the percentage of women and minority employees in information technology management positions. DPR is based in San Francisco and has an office in Seattle.

Controlled Demolition

John D. "Jack" Loizeaux, founder of Controlled Demolition, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Association of Demolition Contractors. Loizeaux, a 50-year veteran in the demolition industry, grew his firm from a drilling and blasting business to a multinational group of companies known for their implosion trademark. Controlled Demolition was the implosion contractor for the Kingdome.

Golder Associates

Jane Rowcliffe has joined Golder Associates, an international environmental and engineering company, as a senior environmental engineer. She has a degree in civil engineering from the University of California at Irvine and a degree in occupational safety and health from the University of Southern California.

Several employees of the firm's Redmond office have been promoted -- Cathy Smith, senior engineer; Travis McGrath, senior engineer; Sandra Schildt, senior developer; Gary Zimmerman, senior environmental scientist; Robert Parney, senior hydrogeologist and geophysicist; Robin Kirschbaum, project engineer; and Beth Spelsberg, project fisheries biologist.

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca has promoted several employees to the position of associate partner.

Carole Kassir-Garcia is a senior designer with more than 17 years of experience. Since joining the firm in 1995, she has worked on several projects for Microsoft Corp., and has worked on a variety of health care projects around the country.

Dave McLean is a project designer and technical designer with ZGF. He is the project architect for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance ambulatory care clinic at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

John Mess is a project manager with more than 20 years of professional experience. He is the project manager for the Amazon.com headquarters expansion in Seattle; the children's therapy unit for Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup; and Overlake Hospital tenant improvements. Zimmer Gunsul Frasca is an architecture, planning and interior design firm with local offices in Seattle and Portland.

Meier Enterprises

Tom Brandon has joined Meier Enterprises to provide project management and coordination of engineering services for educational projects. Prior to joining the firm, he was the executive director of operations for the Pasco School District.

Located in Kennewick, Meier Enterprises is an architecture and engineering firm.

American Construction

Everett's American Construction Co. has appointed Roger Smith as manager of its Land Division. Smith is a registered professional engineer with 12 years of experience in pile foundation and structures construction. He will be responsible for the company's foundation piling and shoring work. Also, based on his bridge construction experience, the division is expected to branch out into structures work. American has been in business over 90 years. It specializes in marine construction, dredging, crane service, pile driving, shoring and structures.

Strand Hunt Construction

Strand Hunt Construction has promoted Michael Lembke to executive vice president and appointed Mark Mickelson as vice president/director of marketing. Lembke has been with the company for 10 years, and has 30 years of industry experience. In his new position, Lembke is directly responsible for the quality and timeliness of all company services, contracts and projects. Mickelson has extensive experience as a senior project manager with primary experience in healthcare, institutional, governmental and education construction projects.

DPR Construction

The Seattle office of DPR Construction has made several personnel changes, including the hiring of Scott Usselman as a MEP coordinator and Bruce Remmen as a senior field leader. The contractor also promoted four employees: Jim Bynon to superintendent, T.J. Modica and Jody Elsom to project managers, and Roger Capestany to project engineer. Usselman previously worked for M.A. Mortenson for six years and Remmen worked at Mortenson for 26 years.

HCI Steel Building Systems

HCI Steel Building Systems, a manufacturer and designer of pre-engineered building systems, has promoted Chick Crane as its regional sales manager for steel component sales. Crane has been with HCI for 11 years in several key positions. The component division is currently expanding its product offering with several million dollars worth of new equipment for the Arlington plant.

Pacific Coast Restaurants

Pacific Coast Restaurants of Portland has hired Gregg Adams as its new director of construction and maintenance. Adams served as president of Adams Construction of Gresham, Ore., for 30 years. His new responsibilities include the day-to-day upkeep of existing restaurants and overseeing new construction projects. Pacific Coast Restaurants operates Stanford's and Newport Bay restaurants in the Seattle area.

Stoneway Roofing

Seattle-based Stoneway Roofing Supply has signed a letter of intent to buy Homestead Roofing Supply of Clackamas, Ore. The deal is expected to close July 1. The acquisition of Homestead will be 76-year-old Stoneway's first location outside the Seattle metropolitan area. Homestead has been in business for 10 years.

Ford Graphics

Kestrel, a Bellevue reprographics shop, is changing its name to Ford Graphics on June 30. The change stems from a consolidation of reprographics companies over the past three years with American Reprographics Co. Current management and staff will remain in place.
