Pacific NW carpenters union

The Pacific Northwest Regional Council of Carpenters promoted Rob Van Alstyne to regional manager for Western Washington. Van Alstyne served as a representative for the council since 1993, most recently as market recovery director. He began in construction in 1973 with the Lathers Local Union 104 in Seattle.

Randy Dalseg has been appointed vice president of the Contract Division and Al Sandhop vice president of merchandising and purchasing at Seattle-based Builders' Hardware & Supply Co. The company also announced Douglas E. Gerbing has became chairman and CEO, John Phillips is now president and Greg Lunde has became senior vice president.

Northwest Energy Efficiency Council

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council has awarded Building Operator Certification Level I status to Alonzo Dumas, Dennis Fields and Rodney Schauf. Dumas is assistant director of engineering at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. Fields is maintenance construction coordinator at the University of Washington. Schauf is director of engineering at the Westin Hotel Seattle. Certification required a year of training and project work in energy efficient building operation and maintenance.

Berschauer Phillips Construction

Berschauer Phillips Construction has been named Corporate Employer of the Year by the Economic Development Council of Thurston County. The honor recognizes growth and competitiveness of South Sound companies. Berschauer Phillips is a fourth-generation business based in Olympia.
