ABC of Western Washington

Sargeant
Les Sargeant of United Systems Mechanical was elected 2009-10 chairman of the board of directors of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. Other officers are: Erin VerHoeven of Corstone Contractors, chair elect; Jeremy Stendera of Apex, vice chair of government and labor affairs; Larry Newton of Lovsted-Worthington, vice chair of membership; Ryan Haggard of Haggard Electrical Contractors, vice chair of development and education; Diane Keithly of Keithly Electric Co., secretary/treasurer; and Grant Larsen of Express Construction Co., immediate past chair. Metropolitan Hardwood Floors

Metropolitan Hardwood Floors (US) is relocating to Cabot Properties' Cabot @ 216 building in Kent, consolidating two existing Kent locations into one centralized distribution facility totaling 62,150 square feet. The move is expected to save on Metropolitan's operating expenses. The company's headquarters is also being relocated to the new location, along with a technical training center and product showroom. Metropolitan distributes pre-finished hardwood flooring to markets in Canada and the western United States.

Washington Alder

Mount Vernon-based Washington Alder opened a sales office in Eugene, Ore. The Oregon sales team includes Keith Wright, Jeff Carr, Mike Edlin, Gary Murdoch and Dale Ragel. Washington Alder is a producer of Forest Stewardship Council-certified alder, maple and birch hardwood lumber.

MBA of King and Snohomish Counties

The Master Builders Career Connection, a division of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, launched a blog site called ConstructionMatch.org. The site gives residential builders, remodelers and contractors a venue to discuss what is going on in the local residential construction industry. It also provides job postings.

ProBuild Holdings

Four ProBuild facilities in Washington have reached the elite level of the Structural Building Components Association's Structural Component Operations Reaching for Excellence (SCORE) certification. The Washington operations are in Auburn, Spokane, Walla Walla and West Richland. ProBuild, a national building materials supplier, also received elite SCORE certification for its Oregon facilities in Clackamas and Klamath Falls. SCORE is a certification program for component manufacturing.
