Grainger

Grainger, a local distributor of facilities maintenance supplies, awarded $2,000 Tools for Tomorrow scholarships to South Seattle Community College students Robert Wilson and Walter Lawrence. Wilson is a Seattle resident studying welding and fabrication technology. Lawrence, also from Seattle, is in the college's automotive technology program. The two also will receive a Westward tool package when they graduate.

CTS Cement

Cypress, Calif.-based CTS Cement Manufacturing Corp. named Walter (Jerry) Hoyle president. Hoyle previously was executive vice president. He has more than 30 years of industry experience and is a member of the American Management Association. He replaced Bill McCormick, who is remaining with CTS as a senior executive vice president. CTS makes specialty fast-setting hydraulic cement and shrinkage-compensating cement. Its products are carried locally by Glacier Northwest, Dunn Lumber, McLendon Hardware and others.

Builders' Hardware & Supply Co.

Gerbing
Douglas Gerbing, former CEO of Builders' Hardware & Supply Co., retired last week. Gerbing was with the employee-owned firm for more than 40 years, also serving as president and board chairman. He is continuing on the board this year as a member; president Greg Lunde is the new chairman. Gerbing recently served as president of the National Door and Hardware Institute and last year received the DHI Founder's Award. The company's board includes: senior vice president Randy Dalseg (treasurer), Sue Gerbing (secretary), corporate vice president Bob Larson (member), vice president merchandising and purchasing Al Sandhop (member), and vice president contract division Clif Tedrick (member). The company also promoted Aaron Davis last fall to vice president dealer division. Builders' Hardware was founded in 1958 and has offices in Seattle, Kennewick, Bellevue and Tualatin, Ore.

Peeples
JTM Construction hired Steve Peeples as project manager and Jeff Gordner as superintendent. Peeples has more than 10 years of construction management experience in mixed-use commercial, office and government projects. He holds bachelor's degrees in business and construction management from Washington State University. Gordner has more than 30 years of construction experience with industrial facilities, medical and office buildings, schools, parking garages, distribution centers, retail complexes, cold storage and food processing facilities, and mixed-use developments.
