Stieber
For its Seattle office, Contech Services added Matthew Stieber as project engineer, Josh Majchrzak as project manager and Nicole Wivell as administrative assistant. The firm also promoted Steve Bush to superintendent in Seattle. Stieber, a recent graduate of Washington State University, spent the last three summers interning with Contech. Majchrzak was formerly with JE Dunn Construction and is a graduate of Colorado State University. Wivell recently relocated from Phoenix and is attending college here. Bush has been with the company for two years as a carpenter foreman. He has 20 years of trades experience.

Washington Asphalt Paving Association

The Washington Asphalt Paving Association presented Pierce County with the Best County Paving Project in Western Washington award for its 2009 asphalt overlay program. The award was shared by the county's paving contractor, Woodworth & Co. of Tacoma. The 2009 asphalt overlay program resurfaced 6.5 miles of county roadways. It's the third consecutive year that Pierce County has received the award.

Central Washington University

Central Washington University's construction management program received a $25,000 endowment from the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington. An additional $25,000 will be donated in 2011 by the association. The money will support curriculum development, faculty research and equipment, with a focus on projects related to mechanical construction. The funds may also be used for scholarships for construction management majors. David Carns is CWU's construction management program coordinator.

Washington Glass Association

The Washington Glass Association elected its new officers and board of directors for 2011. The appointments are effective March 1. New officers include: Bernie Thueringer of Pacific Glass, president; Amy Anderson of Atlas Supply, vice president; Peter Barnhart of Pacific Glass & Door, secretary; Susan Stevens of SGS Glass, treasurer; and Mike Garland of Eubanks, past president. Directors include: Bill Coady of Guardian Industries, Bonnie Fay of Northwestern Industries, Ed Howell of Hartung Glass, Richard Sorrells of Brower Glass Tint and Graphics, and Gary Towndrow of RGA Architectural Sales. WGA's executive director is Maryanne Howell.

Canyon Creek Cabinet Co.

Monroe-based Canyon Creek Cabinet Co. donated cabinetry for two new homes in Oregon built for disabled veterans under a national program run by Homes For Our Troops. The nonprofit HFOT builds new homes for returning veterans with serious disabilities and injuries. Canyon Creek's donation was installed in homes in Sandy and Parkdale.
