Vashon-based Island Home Center & Lumber received the Entrepreneur of the Year award for sales under $10 million from LBM Journal. Island Home was cited for customer satisfaction, company improvement and new business development. LBM Journal is a magazine for lumber/building material distributors.

Ecker

Bill Ecker joined Pease Construction as director of business development. Ecker has more than 20 years of construction industry experience. He is LEED accredited and is a Designated Design Build Professional. He is in charge of opening new markets for Pease.

SMACNA-Western Washington

Happe

Doug Happe of Emerald Aire was installed as president of SMACNA-Western Washington for a two-year term. Happe succeeds Rick Hermanson of the Hermanson Co., who remains on the board as chapter councilor. Other board members for 2012-13 are Jim Reynolds of PSF Mechanical, vice president; and Dave Gough of MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, secretary/treasurer. Trustees are Brian Fluetsch of Sunset Air, Duane Nugent of Scott & From Co., Helga Rebitzer of Olympia Sheet Metal, and Eric van der Veen of Holaday-Parks.

Lydig Construction

Larry Swartz, previously president of Lydig Construction, is now CEO and will continue as chairman. Gus Gottschalk was promoted to president of the Western Region Group, overseeing all operations out of Lydig's Bellevue office; and Ken Schwartz was promoted to president of the Eastern Region Group, overseeing all operations out of Lydig's Spokane office. Also, Glyn Slattery and Bill Dobyns were promoted to vice president of operations of the Western Region Group; and Vince Campanella was promoted to vice president of operations of the Eastern Region Group.

Pape Machinery

Eugene, Ore.-based Pape Machinery named Scott Benham general manager and David Rockwood sales manager of its Seattle region. Benham previously was Seattle region sales manager. He joined Pape in 2002 when it bought Smith Tractor, where he worked since 1995 in the sales department. Rockwood has more than 11 years of experience selling products and services to the construction industry. Pape Machinery has nine branches in Washington, six in Oregon, seven in California, three in Idaho and one in Nevada. It is part of the Pape Group.

Teknon Corp.

Teknon Corp., a Division 27 and 28 low-voltage specialty contractor, hired Sean Wood as intelligent transportation operations manager, Mark Rindy as integrated solutions advisor and Senad Kameric as special projects manager. Wood has 11 years of industry experience, most recently with Signal Electric. He is working on technology advances in freeway management systems. Rindy is expanding Teknon's expertise in IP video surveillance, access control and intrusion detection. Kameric is overseeing the company's Special Projects Division. He has 12 years of experience in structured cabling.
