DBM Contractors

Federal Way-based DBM Contractors received two safety awards from ADSC: The International Association of Foundation Drilling. DBM was one of four firms nationally to receive the award for contractors who perform single projects in excess of $750,000, and one of two contractors to receive the Rick Marshall Commitment to Excellence in Safety Award. The awards recognize outstanding field and shop safety efforts. The company's EMR rating has dropped 30 percent since 2009 and is now at .679. It has not had a time loss accident in more than 450,000 hours worked.

Simpson Strong-Tie

To prepare for future growth throughout the Pacific Northwest, Simpson Strong-Tie relocated in Kent to a building with twice as much manufacturing, warehouse and training space as its previous location. The company also added a new showroom. The training center is expected to host more than 500 individuals in the building industry annually, including structural engineers, contractors, distributors and building officials.

NAWIC

The National Association of Women in Construction recently installed its 2012-13 officers and board members at its national convention in Denver. The roster includes president-elect Yasmine A. Branden of Portland Chapter No. 54. Also, Dalene Schafer Bloom of the Portland Chapter is serving her second term as Region 9 director. NAWIC is based in Fort Worth, Texas.
