The Master Builders Association of Pierce County named Rick Miller as executive officer. Miller previously was chief operating officer at the MBA of King and Snohomish Counties. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and finance from the University of Montana School of Business Administration, and is a Certified Management Accountant. MBA of Pierce County is a nonprofit trade association with more than 650 builder and associate member companies.

Schuchart hired Mark Brock and Jeff Boker as project managers, Kalin Magruder as assistant project manager and Tim Braunschweig as project engineer. Brock has more than 25 years of experience managing projects and is working in the company's Industrial Division. Boker has 27 years of construction experience and is working in the Tenant Improvement Division. Magruder is also working in the TI Division. She holds a bachelor's degree in planning and environmental policy from Western Washington University, and is enrolled in the University of Washington's construction management certificate program. Braunschweig has experience in heavy-civil construction and holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from Washington State University. He is working in the Building Division.




The Seattle office of Abbott Construction hired Trisha Crozier as administrative assistant and Michael Hawpe as superintendent, and promoted Steve Jarvis and Charlie Gwinn to project executives. Crozier previously worked in the judicial system. She is the receptionist and supports the office in a number of tasks. Hawpe is assisting Abbott's California office with a project at Simi Valley Hospital for the next three months before settling in Seattle. Both Jarvis and Gwinn have more than 20 years of industry experience and are focusing on client relationships and work acquisition.

ESC Automation promoted Dale Stone to general manager of the U.S. western region, where he oversees operations, sales and business development. Stone has more than 30 years of experience in the building automation, mechanical servicecontracting and energy reduction industries. Canada-based ESC operates branch offices in the Seattle and Portland markets.


Scott Sty joined the project management team of Sequoyah Electric's New Construction Division, and John Harder joined as senior project manager in the Special Projects Division. Sty previously worked at Sequoyah as a field supervisor from 2008-13. Harder has more than 35 years of electrical industry experience.
Seattle-based Ballard Hardware & Supply Co. changed its name to Ballard Industrial in a re-branding effort. The company was founded in 1952 by Lyle Hartje and Jim Freyberg. It distributes equipment and supplies to the marine, manufacturing, construction and process industries.
