The Walsh Group

The Walsh Group is holding its third annual Quality Week Nov. 2-6 at its U.S. and Canada jobsites and offices. The event celebrates the company's professional and craft workforce, while promoting accountability and recognizing work performed accurately and safely. This year, a series of presentations called Jobsite Stories will highlight project teams' success stories. Walsh is based in Chicago and has a local office in Tukwila.

UMC

UMC led a team that designed and built two hygiene trailers for New Hope Resource Center's new Mobile Resources Response Team, which brings services to the homeless in Pierce County. Ten companies donated the materials and labor needed for UMC to build out the trailers at its Mukilteo manufacturing shop. CHC Hydronics partnered with Intellihot, a manufacturer of tankless water heaters, to donate two water heaters valued at $20,000 each. Other donations came from Weir's Appliances (four stackable washers and dryers), as well as Ferguson, Central Welding Supply, United Rentals and Bigfoot Construction. Prime Electric provided electrical work. The mobile team is deploying three times a week where encampments are located, at local churches and in business parking lots. The operation includes a 40-foot RV in addition to the shower and laundry trailers. UMC is a mechanical engineering and construction company.

Washington River Protection Solutions

The National Safety Council gave Hanford tank operations contractor Washington River Protection Solutions a Community Advancement Award for its commitment to safety. The award focused on two areas: employee-led safety programs, and safety outreach and engagement in the community. Washington River Protection Solutions has been involved in the Department of Energy's Voluntary Protection Program, accident prevention councils, and creation of employee-generated safety videos.

UMC

Hemphill

Bonnie Frye Hemphill joined UMC as director of policy and partnerships. At UMC, Hemphill is providing strategic policy leadership on the next generation of the built environment, with a focus on the clean economy. She also is using her expertise in partnership development and external communications. Prior to joining UMC, Hemphill opened new markets for solar in the Northwest at A&R Solar and Solar Installers of Washington. UMC is a mechanical engineering and construction company based in Mukilteo.

ABC of Western Washington

Firepower of Spokane joined the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. Firepower is a contractor focusing on fire safety, CCTV, access control and security.

Wayne's Roofing

Sumner-based Wayne's Roofing placed 454th in Engineering News-Record's Top 600 Specialty Contractors list. That's up eight places from last year and 15th among roofing contractors nationally and first in the Pacific Northwest.

The Rush Companies

Puget Sound Business Journal ranked Gig Harbor-based The Rush Companies as the No. 4 large company in Washington's Best Workplaces. The list was created by Quantum Workplace, which scored candidates in 30 items across six categories, including trust in leadership and team dynamics. The Rush Companies is comprised of five real estate focused businesses, including Rush Commercial Construction and Rush Residential.
