In Seattle, Lease Crutcher Lewis promoted Aaron Wofford-Miles to people services director and Francesca Perry to people services generalist; and hired Greg Smith as VDC director and Casey Moore as project executive. Wofford-Miles joined Lewis in 2019, bringing an expertise in human resources. In her new role, she will support Lewis' workforce throughout Washington and Oregon. Perry joined Lewis in 2018 as a people services coordinator. She is now focusing on employee benefits and recruiting for the Seattle office. Smith was VDC director at Skanska for 11 years and more recently was the national VDC training leader for DPR Construction. Moore is working in Lewis' K-12 market for Washington. He has over 30 years of experience as an architect and owner in the K-12 market, most recently as capital projects director for the Federal Way School District.


Local mechanical engineering and construction company UMC hired Keith Bickford as business development manager for the Controls Group and Yury Uzhansky as lead engineer. Bickford is a certified commissioning professional with over seven years of building automation experience. He holds master's degrees in architecture and environmental science. Uzhansky is a registered professional mechanical engineer with over 40 years of experience in design and construction, commissioning, start up and functional testing of different mechanical systems. Prior to joining UMC's engineering team, Uzhansky worked with UMC's construction team on multiple projects as a design engineer.

Jack deLeon is retiring after 40 years of commercial sales and service with Tacoma-based Gray Lumber Co. The company says deLeon has influenced many people in the building industry, both personally and professionally. He also dedicated much of his time to the Special Olympics program.

Kent-based Hermanson Co. recently launched an affiliate business called Velocity Building Technical Services, with Brad Sharp as director of building technical services, Tom Poe as director of controls and TAB superintendent, and Clair Gehrt as director of operations. Sharp has over 25 years of experience with testing and balancing, building controls commissioning, indoor air quality, and fire life safety inspections and remedy implementation. After leaving the Navy in 2000, Poe has worked as a building controls field technician, estimator and supervisor on numerous energy optimization projects across the Puget Sound region. Gehrt has eight years of operations experience. Velocity BTS has a single-source provider approach to building technology services.

Adam Pinsky is the new CFO at Bayley Construction. Pinsky has over 23 years of construction and financial management experience, most recently as CFO at electrical contractor SME Inc. of Seattle. He holds an MBA from the University of Washington executive program and is a former Marine.

Mark Tibbetts will join APA — The Engineered Wood Association next week to begin the transition to president on July 1, when Ed Elias will retire. Tibbetts was selected by APA's board through a lengthy search process after Elias announced plans in 2020 to retire. Tibbetts has over 15 years of experience in association and nonprofit program management, environmental policy and business development. He has held leadership positions at the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, Tag and Label Manufacturers Institute, Thermostat Recycling Corp., National Electrical Manufacturers Association and American Public Works Association. Elias has been with Tacoma-based APA for 43 years, beginning as an associate scientist and becoming president in 2013.
In Woodinville, Synergy Inc. announced it's expanding with a focus on mixed-use, multifamily and modular construction projects. The multifamily component includes affordable and senior housing, as well as assisted-living projects. Modular construction is handled through the company's Synergy Modular brand, which was created to address labor shortages and rising costs in the affordable housing market. Synergy is a second-generation family-owned construction company with other offices in Scottsdale, Arizona, and Austin, Texas. It has active projects in Washington, California, Arizona and Texas; and says it's expanding into other states with the right strategic partners.
Turner Construction recently won the 2020 Construction Dive Company of the Year award from the online publication. Construction Dive citied Turner's leadership role against racism and bias in the construction industry.
