Sanborn

Matt Sanborn joined BNBuilders as a senior project executive supporting the company's five regional offices in Seattle, the Bay Area, Los Angeles/Orange County, San Diego and Denver. Sanborn has over 25 years of experience in business development and operations at national firms, with the last 15 years spent leading operations and business development initiatives at an executive level. He has held leadership roles at both Skanska and DPR Construction, specializing in the health care sector and design-build projects. At BNB, he is focusing on corporate business development, strategy, and aiding in growing the company's national client base.

Compass Construction

In Kirkland, Compass Construction hired Olivia Ma as estimator, Jim Berglind as IT director and Jackson Coleman as project engineer. The company also promoted Mike Gilbert from field superintendent to superintendent. Ma has five years of estimating experience in the Seattle area. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering. Berglind previously led an IT consultancy for over 25 years. His client base primarily represented the tech, aerospace and construction sectors — including Compass for 18 years. Coleman holds a bachelor's degree in construction management from the University of Portland. Gilbert has been with the company for 2.5 years.

ABC of Western Washington

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington signed up two new members: Ayko Group of Gig Harbor; and R&S Electric of Arlington. Ayko is a general contracting and construction management company working in the commercial sector and with U.S. government agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. R&S specializes in electrical and low-voltage work on commercial and residential projects.

Habitat Seattle-King County

Habitat Seattle-King County had over 500 guests at its recent 2022 Beyond the Build luncheon. The event raised over $1.6 million, including matching funds, for affordable housing projects. Bank of America and Steve Hill were recognized at the event for their contributions. Bank of America has been a corporate partner for over 25 years, and Hill was named Volunteer of the Year for his service on a Weyerhaeuser alumni campaign that will provide housing for 10 families over five years.

Pearson Builders

Corey Culp transitioned from superintendent to project manager at Bellingham-based Pearson Builders. In his new role, Culp is responsible for managing projects across the organization's primary market segments, including health care, luxury homes and commercial construction. He joined the company in 2001 and gained experience as a carpenter while working on teams that built Chrysalis Inn and Spa, several Industrial Credit Union projects, and multiple luxury homes in Bellingham and the San Juan Islands. Culp became a superintendent in 2012. “Corey brings an extensive skill set to this new role,” said Scott Isenhart, president of Tiger Pearson Construction, in a news release. “His experience as a journeyman carpenter, combined with his friendly, personable, and customer-focused demeanor make him uniquely qualified to excel as a project manager.” Tiger Construction bought Pearson in 2020.

ABC of Western Washington

G&A Quality Metals of Seattle joined the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. G&A is a sheet metal shop and provider of construction supplies. Steven Lopez is the general manager.
