Rider Levett Bucknall

Kevin Mitchell is the new leader of Rider Levett Bucknall's Las Vegas office. Mitchell recently oversaw RLB's Pacific Northwest region as director of operations and executive vice president. He has been with RLB for 22 years and worked on projects for 35 years throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Northwest. RLB is an independent global construction and property consultant with over 20 offices.

ABC of Western Washington

Element Paint and Coatings Co. of Tukwila joined the Associated Builders and Contractors of Western Washington. The company specializes in interior and exterior commercial painting and coatings. It also offers pressure washing, line striping and other commercial painting needs.

Granite

Watsonville, California-based Granite says its Alaska Region received the Associated General Contractors of Alaska's 2023 ConocoPhillips Excellence in Safety Award. The awards program encourages and honors excellence in construction safety throughout Alaska, recognizing builders in five divisions. Granite won the Highway Division category. It has won this award several times in the past.

Pape Kenworth

Alliance Concrete Pumps, Pape Kenworth and Kenworth Truck Co. donated a JMP-60 concrete pump and chassis to the Concrete Industry Management program for its upcoming auction in Las Vegas at the World of Concrete event. CIM is a business-intensive program offering bachelor's degrees in concrete industry management. The donation is valued at $245,000. The auction will be held Jan. 24. Pape Kenworth operates many locations along the West Coast; Kenworth Truck Co. is based in Kirkland.

Jaime Lee

Jaime Lee is the new president of Issaquah-based Lakeside Industries. He takes over for Mike Lee, who stepped into the role of CEO and board chair. Jaime previously was vice president. He started his career at Lakeside by working over summer breaks and gained experience working with the equipment shop, crusher, asphalt plant and road crew. After receiving a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder, he spent two years working for a bridge and civil contractor in the Denver area. He rejoined Lakeside in 2008. A Lakeside news release says Jamie has robust knowledge in the fields of bidding, construction, sales, permitting, environmental and quality control. Mike Lee began his career at Lakeside in the 1980s as a laborer. After graduating from Boston College with a degree in business management, he returned to Lakeside as an estimator and has held various leadership positions since. In 2006, he became president. Lakeside bills itself as the region's largest private asphalt paving and construction company, with 11 regional divisions spanning western Washington and northwest Oregon. It also produces asphalt mixes from 15 asphalt plants.

Skanska

vanSwearingen

Global construction and development firm Skanska USA promoted Margot vanSwearingen to project executive for the Seattle region. Prior to joining Skanska in 2012, vanSwearingen earned a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Washington, and spent six years at an integrated design firm working on K-12 design. She focused on the impact of design and how environments contribute to student and teacher success. Skanska says vanSwearingen has become known for her operational excellence, acumen and passion for winning work, and ability to build and develop high-performing teams. Some of her projects with Skanska included the UW Magnuson Health Sciences T-Wing renovation, Fairview Middle School, Bryant Montessori School and the recently completed Highline High School.

In Bellevue, Hensel Phelps promoted Carlos Cardenas to VDC manager. Cardenas joined Hensel Phelps in 2018. The company says he has been training field staff on how to use VDC tools on their own so that they can increase their virtual design and construction (VDC) capabilities.
