Auburn Mechanical

Gaffney

Auburn Mechanical, a woman-owned mechanical contractor, hired Annika Gaffney as human resources director. Gaffney brings over 20 years of industry experience across various sectors and a track record for cultivating inclusive, employee-friendly workplaces. She previously held the same role at general contractor Schuchart. In her new role at Auburn Mechanical, she will develop and implement a human resources strategy that aligns with company-wide goals. Auburn Mechanical specializes in mechanical design, HVAC, plumbing, fitting, refrigeration and maintenance.

Pacific Northwest CMAA

The Pacific Northwest Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America is seeking nominations for its 2024 Project Achievement Awards. The program is open to local chapter members that finished projects between Jan. 1, 2023, and April 1, 2024, in Washington, Idaho and Alaska. The submission deadline is May 10. MCAWW

Cowper

The board of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Western Washington appointed Robin Cowper as the organization's new executive director. MCAWW says Cowper brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having worked in various roles at the association for the past two decades. Those roles included serving as a trustee on the health and supplemental pension trusts, participating in labor negotiations, teaching classes and chairing the Seattle Area Pipe Trades JATC committee. In 2014, she obtained the Certified Association Executive designation. Prior to joining MCAWW, she worked for seven years at UMC. Cowper succeeds Ed Kommers, who served as the association's executive director since 2009 and continues in the role of advisor.

Swinerton

Haj

Swinerton Inc. promoted Ray Haj to chief operations officer and executive vice president. In his new role, Haj will oversee Swinerton and its subsidiaries, including Swinerton Builders and Timberlab. Haj joined Swinerton Builders in 2001 as a senior scheduler and has been integral to the company's growth. He became corporate manager of project controls in 2006, leading in-house training initiatives centered on elevating project delivery and scheduling best practices. Most recently, Haj was senior vice president and regional manager, overseeing business growth in Southern California and Hawaii. He succeeds David Callis, who assumed the role of CEO. Concord, California-based Swinerton has a local office in Bellevue. Timberlab is a holistic provider of mass timber systems with a Northwest office in Portland.
