Sonos

Sonos recently combined two different locations into one collaborative space on the fourth floor at 800 Fifth Ave. in downtown Seattle.

The 40,000-square-foot office space was designed to bring the teams together, and embody the music and entertainment that their sound systems deliver.

The new space has a tailored zone for each disciple, customized to their daily duties and music tastes. For example, a raised floor is incorporated in the space, allowing engineers to rearrange furniture configurations quickly.

Acoustics and sound were at the center of the office’s design. Every square foot was tested to ensure premium sound quality, whether a local band is making a live appearance or if music is playing over speakers. There are also home-like listening rooms where the product development team can test new products in isolation.

A focal point of the workplace is The Hub, which serves as a flexible multipurpose atrium for the team to come together at lunch hour, host product launch events or have local bands perform.

Client: Sonos

Designer, general contractor: Unispace
