Cozy 'Barbershop' mixes edgy attitude, decency

By DAVID GERMAIN
AP Movie Writer

Ice Cube's "Barbershop" is a cozy place to hang out for a while, even if you don't need a little off the sides.

With sweet comic chemistry among its affectionate band of hairdressing oddballs, "Barbershop" strikes a rare blend of edgy ghetto attitude and communal decency. The humor is tinged with slapstick and raucousness, yet beneath the film's occasionally shrill tone lies warmhearted camaraderie and tenderness.
