Child-actor spoof comes up short

Can a child star ever escape his or her dysfunctional youth?
Hmmmm, no. But comedian David Spade casts a kindly eye on Hollywood's modern pariahs -- and even includes many of them in the script he penned with "Saturday Night Live" writer Fred Wolf -- in the goofy but warmhearted "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star."
