Glosten Associates has named William L. Hurley Jr. as president. Previously Hurley served as vice president of operations and was responsible for hiring new associates and improving project delivery methods.
Hurley joined Glosten in 1977, after receiving his bachelor’s degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan. He has participated in all aspects of the firm’s naval architecture work and directed new design and major conversions for vessels of all types. Hurley has written or co-written 10 published technical papers and has presented his research at conferences in Canada and the United States. Hurley has acted as project engineer, project manager and project naval architect on a number of new design programs and major vessel conversions. He applied his engineering skills to the design of self-propelled workboats, research vessels, passenger ferries and ocean barges. He worked with shipyard personnel on construction projects, as well as acting as on-site consultant for large-scale submersible barge load-outs.
Prior to Hurley, Duane Laible served as President of The Glosten Associates from 1981-2000. Laible will continue to be active in the firm and serve as Chairman of the Board
