Al McSwain, vice president of Harris Group, received an Oregon State University Academy of Distinguished Engineers award Oct. 12 in Corvallis. According to OSU's Gordon Reistad, associate dean of the College of Engineering, McSwain's contributions to the field of engineering and his interactions with OSU made him a candidate for the honor.
A member of Seattle-based Harris Group's senior management team, he has 35 years of engineering and management experience, in the pulp and paper, food products and forest products industries. McSwain provides management consulting for Harris and mentor project managers and provided industrial counsel for development of a joint OSU-Portland State University Master's of Manufacturing Engineering Program in the early 1990s.
