Zipper Zeman Associates

Zipper Zeman Associates announced associate David A. Baska recently obtained his Ph.D. in earthquake engineering from the University of Washington. For his doctoral research, Baska developed an improved method of predicting lateral spread displacements. The new procedure combines the mechanics of the liquefaction process with the database of existing case histories and will likely become the standard of practice. Baska also researched ground motions from Cascade subduction zone earthquakes. He modeled the rupture process, wave propagation and site response at 13 sites around the Northwest.

Edwardo Garcia joined the firm as a staff geotechnical engineer. He obtained his B.S.C.E. from the University of Arizona, and comes to ZZA after working for several years in the Tucson area.

Michelle Iaci joined ZZA as marketing coordinator/project administrator. She has worked in the Seattle engineering community for 15 years, and is currently co-editor of the Seattle Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers' newsletter.

Zipper Zeman provides geotechnical engineering, environmental consulting and engineering geology services, with offices in Lynnwood, Seattle and Fife.
