The AIA Washington Council recently elected its 2004 executive board.

Mike Smith of Bellingham will serve a one-year term as president. Smith is majority owner/principal of Zervas Group Architects, an 11-member architecture and interior design firm. He served on the executive board from 1994 to 1997, and was president in 1996.

Smith is the first person in the organization's 43-year history to serve twice as president.

Lois Wardell of the Yakima firm Wardell Architects will serve as president-elect. Blake Bolton of the Tacoma firm McGranahan Architects will continue as secretary-treasurer, and Richard Wagner of Baylis is immediate past president.
