The Glosten Associates, a Seattle marine engineering and naval architecture consulting firm, has promoted John Edgar, David Larsen, Paul Smith and John Springer III to principals.

Edgar joined Glosten in 1988 and has worked on vessel and marine systems projects during his tenure. He is currently leading a $100 million vessel construction effort. Edgar's corporate responsibilities include engineering and technology management.

Larsen has been with Glosten since 1984. He manages the firm's marine engineering efforts, including mechanical and HVAC systems design. Currently he is managing systems design for a new arctic research vessel and is supporting construction of the state of Alaska's first fast ferry.

Smith came to Glosten in 2002 with 25 years of international experience in shipbuilding, marine salvage, environmental response and ocean operations. He is working with a major oil company on a 10,000-mile tow and installation of the world's largest floating production, storage and off-load unit.

Springer joined Glosten in 1987 and specializes in design and analysis of marine structures, evaluation of vessel stability, design and analysis of cargo transport systems and engineering support of marine construction. His corporate responsibilities include managing the firm's technical operations.
