Temporary structure will keep traffic flowing as tunnel is built

WSDOT is planning to advertise a $300 million construction contract in October to rebuild the southern mile of the viaduct. Parsons Brinckerhoff is WSDOT's general engineering consultant on the project.

The Washington State Department of Transportation is planning to build a temporary structure that will connect the existing central waterfront section of the Alaskan Way Viaduct with a new section of viaduct it is planning to build in Sodo.
