Changes on the way for Pike/Pine buildings

A proposal aimed at retaining older buildings and encouraging smaller storefronts and developments in the Pike-Pine corridor will be introduced Monday in the Seattle City Council.

The bill creates a conservation overlay district in the Pike-Pine corridor, running from Interstate 5 to 15th Avenue in a band including Pike and Pine streets and parts of Olive Way, Union Street and Madison Street. Much of the area is now part of the Pike/Pine Urban Center.
