NAC school project wins national honor

Little Cedars Elementary School in Snohomish won the national 2009 Learning By Design Citation of Excellence for outstanding educational facility design.

The Seattle office of NAC Architecture designed the project. Judges cited the integration of learning areas, noting that they are “at ease” with the rest of the building’s design and landscape. Judges also said the sustainable elements of the 68,000-square-foot school were refined into “an exciting learning solution.”

Lydig Construction was the general contractor; NAC Electrical, electrical engineering; Coughlin Porter Lundeen, civil and structural engineering; Hargis, mechanical engineering; Weisman Design Group, landscape architecture; George Bundy & Associates, kitchen consulting; The Robinson Co., cost consulting.

Construction cost $17.6 million.
