HDR No. 13 on ENR firm list

HDR has risen to No. 13 in the 2009 Engineering News-Record Top 500 Design Firms Survey. The firm was 16th last year.

Company officials say the move resulted from growth and strategic acquisitions. Two of the larger acquisitions in 2008 included CUH2A, a science and technology firm, and Cummins & Barnard, a power engineering firm.

HDR held steady in transportation, with its No. 8 ranking unchanged from 2008. It rose from No. 13 to No. 9 in general building, and from No. 8 to No. 7 in sewer/wastewater. It cracked the Top 50 International Designers at No. 41.

Additionally, HDR Architecture, Inc. was ranked No. 1 by Modern Healthcare magazine for the sixth consecutive year.

HDR has more than 165 locations worldwide, and local offices in the Puget Sound region as well as in Spokane and Pasco.
