Mahlum

Mahlum named Erik Goodfriend director of its new centralized health care studio. Health care design has traditionally accounted for up to 60 percent of the firm's revenues and this move brings together those involved in the health care practice in different cities. Goodfriend will lead health care staff in the Portland and Seattle offices. He has been with the firm for 12 years and has been associate principal since 2009. He has 26 years experience in architecture and has worked on hospitals, outpatient clients and commercial projects in the Northwest. He is the lead medical planning principal for the new Peace Island Medical Center on San Juan Island and is directing two renovations at Salem Hospital in Oregon. Goodfriend previously worked for Pacific Associates Planners Architects in San Diego and Singapore, and for VCE, a consulting firm, in Vienna, Austria. Mahlum has 100 employees.
