ZGF Architects hired 10 people in the Seattle office, bringing the headcount there to 115. Vikram Sami was hired as an architect and associate partner, Alan Locke as an architect and associate, Laura Squillace, Marty Brennan and Chris Hellstern as architects, Melissa Balestri as a specification writer, Rachel Spence as a graphic designer, Sally Tsang as an architectural intern, Mckenzie Baird as a marketing intern and Matt Eccleston as an architectural staff member. Sami has more than 15 years of experience on public and private projects. He specializes in energy use and environmental studies, and has done sustainable building research and participated in USGBC certification reviews. Locke previously worked for Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects in Atlanta. His work includes the Gates Center for Computer Science and Hillman Center for Future Generation Technologies at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Squillace specializes in ecological and community design, and has five years of experience as a LEED consultant and architectural illustrator. Previously, she was lead designer and project manager at Odin's Hammer. Brennan specializes in daylighting computation and analysis, visual comfort analysis, high dynamic range photography, and energy benchmarking. He previously worked at Perkins + Will. Hellstern has seven years at KMD Architects, with projects that include Bertschi School's Living Building. Balestri has worked at Gensler and IBI Building Consultants, for a remodeling contractor, and as a model maker and drafter for an architecture firm. Spence will work with the marketing team. Previously she was a contract designer for LBVD in Atlanta and has a background in branding, packaging and publication design. Tsang interned at Arup's Hong Kong office and at Ellumus in Bellevue. She holds a bachelor's in architecture from the University of Washington. Baird is pursuing a bachelor's in business marketing from Washington State University. Eccleston holds a bachelor of architecture from Oklahoma State University and was a teaching assistant at its D.W.R. School of Architecture. ZGF provides architecture, planning and interior design.
